1. Candy/sweets are a luxury and I would not be shocked if a lot of lefties grew up with parents that were stingy on giving them candy, ice cream, milkshakes, etc on demand. Especially if they grew up in a school or household with someone with a peanute allergy (meaning that a lot of candy was forbidden due to it having peanut butter/peanuts).

That would be a great outcome. Even if not another Trump is elected or even runs for president, using their influence in the party to completely pull it away from the last two decades of Neocons would help cement their legacy for the better. It would also make the Conservative Party much more appealing, as there's a lot of people (especially here) who were center/left but turned right because of Trump.

I don't know how or what stranglehold he had on the Republican party, but as soon as he died and his Chosen Successor (his wife) wasn't given the reigns of power... it was as if, overnight, the Republicans became different people. Suddenly we had Cocaine Mitch instead of Mr. Turtle. Suddenly Ted Cruz was going hard on populism, rather than weak NeoCon bullshit. Just... over night, Trump went from having a borderline hostile Senate, to one that almost actually likes him.
