This is probably going to be the end since last time, and Bob admitted this in a blog, he didn't have the mental discipline to do a weekly review/opinion series unless someone was paying him, rather than just going by patreon and Youtube ad revenue, which are paid monthly. And as I mentioned a while back, he's fucked himself in terms of the algorithm by uploading his old Big Pictures on his channel with no new content because now he has a shit ton of low viewed videos and there have been bigger and bigger gaps between his Really That Good series.

It might help that he gets to keep doing Big Picture and Escape to the movies. Having Jimquisition helped Sterling make the leap to independence, but that was during the good times. I doubt people were actively searching out Schlocktober to watch.

That is my belief, as well. I don't think Sterling needs to actually work for anybody anymore. Dude is pretty close to getting his Gold play button as it is.

I do think that while this might have been technically amicable, in the sense that they simply decided not to renew his contact, they are also not the slightest bit sorry the contract expired. Their replies to inquires about this are funny. The fact that they are replying at all is even funnier. Usually a company like that wouldn't reply at all. Sterling lambasts the perfidy of the modern gaming industry better than anybody I know. I can't stand his politics, and we'd probably never agree on anything else, but he is usually spot on when it comes to eviscerating the detestable pattern and practices of "modern AAA publishers."

He's actually on a very short list of SJWs I admittedly kinda like (sometimes). He serves as a life reminder to me that it's okay to enjoy topical content from somebody you might otherwise disagree with.

That said, I also haven't watched Sterling in months. He might have gone completely to shit, for all I know.

Looking back at what few other videos I've seen of his, they're bad, but they've never been this bad.

He wasn't even much of a gamer then. He admitted in the book it took him years to beat SMB3 the first time and even then he needed help, and Mario going 3D is what made him ditch Nintendo the first time so he probably secretly hates that the 'inferior' 3D games got a re-release.

EDIT: Just watched the intro to the newest video. So looks like he's going to get back all his old videos and reupload them to his main channel, once again dragging it down with low view videos and causing the algorithm to bypass him again and again.

Also Bob, considering that you've been slacking off on your patreon stuff, and didn't even keep a good schedule the last time this happened, I doubt people are going to be lining up to toss a coin to you.
