To be absolutely fair, some gamers did get pretty salty about Raiden in MGS2 and Titus in FFX back in the day, nothing to justify the absurdly disproportionate response feminists have been wreaking havoc with for close to a decade mind you, but yeah, there were times in which male gamers could not be enthusiastic about more feminine male characters.

But on the flipside to that, back then you also had everyone being gay for Bridget in Guilty Gear and obsessing over Poison in Final Fight, feminists always cherry pick shit to fit their narrative.

Once again, I always have to keep pointing to Soul Calibur as a gold standard for character designs, we have a female character in bondage gear, Ivy, but also a male character in bondage gear, Volvo, we have burly, masculine male characters and more feminine male characters as well, it was very equal opportunity in everything but feminists can only of course point to Ivy and complain, ignoring the fact that there are other less sexy female characters and even a toned down choice of costume for Ivy herself as well, what more could they want if they were being fair? But of course feminists are not even remotely fair.

Raiden's issue was over the bait-and-switch pulled in the advertising for MGS2 and his whinier demeanor in comparison to the cool professionalism of Snake. Titus was mocked primarily for the "laughing scene", even though it was explicitly wooden in context. Neither got shat on for being anime pretty boys, which would be especially unusual for the Final Fantasy fandom considering that virtually every protag has been bishie.

Unfortunately you're wrong because I vividly remember gaming magazines making fun of Raiden and Titus for being pretty boys.

In the case of Raiden it wasn't just the bait and switch but also the fact that they were being baited and switched for a pretty boy and while Final Fantasy always had bishies Titus was pretty next level bishie even by bishie standards, which I've always wondered if X-2 was meant to be a sort of apology for that.

The thing is though whatever things you can point to from back in the day have been 10,000 times eclipsed by feminist sperging out for almost a solid decade, no gamer who ever talked a little smack about Raiden or Titus ever took this shit half as seriously as a feminist takes bikini armor or whatever, most of it was just good natured ribbing versus modern SJW lecturing.

But hey fair is fair and a fact is a fact and people did indeed give Raiden and Titus some shit.
 
I remember how disgusted people were of Raiden’s naked cartwheels. One memory I have of a show on G4 doing close ups of Raiden’s taint.

Better than most redraws I've seen. This one at least still kinda has a big chest and a small waist. Honestly the only things I like about the right is the detail everything else is kinda weird looking.

Both of these pictures look fucking terrible. The reduced one looks bland, undetailed, and just kind of off while the original is just a whole bowl of what the fuck. That's neither what tits look like nor how shirts work. I'm usually not one to nitpick boob socks but this one is just fucking awful beyond the norm. It makes Leinfeld look good.

Professional deformation? What, like style? You can definitely tell certain artists apart by how they draw certain body types.

Not exactly style, but how it gets adjusted from what they have to draw a lot of...like, er, person drawing a lot of manga-style may unconsiously ramp up the eyes of realistic figures they try to depict.
And that picture of Leoric I provided sure had a weirdly musclebound-comic-book-guy-like silhoutte...not to mention that pose.

Preeeetty sure I've encountered this dude's work before. In hentai. Lots and lots of hentai. And what do we see in hentai, and porn in general? Great artists going out of their way to ignore anatomy. Female artists will complain about men drawing big tits, and then proceed to draw their traps with balls hang from underneath their asshole and not where they should be.

That said, I remember his art being very twisted for a specific niche that is into like.. Anorexic bodies. It was pretty hot but very down one corridor. This is basically "I'm hetero and I read this gay fanfic and hated it!". Unless it's an entirely different artist but I doubt it.
 
I have seen a lot of posts talking about shows and games and people saying that they drop it because of smexy shit and all I have to say is that I'm 98% sure that they drop steel ball run after seeing the cover for chapter 13

There's 'exaggerating the sexy bits' and then there's that. The guy exaggerated things so much down his 'one corridor', she looks more like ET with a wig and a boob job than a human.
