Let me tell you the story of Brenda Snipes.
Brenda Snipes was an election commissioner for 15 years. Brenda Snipes' county had more votes than possible elligible voters, meaning non-elligible voters were voting in elections. There was evidence of all sorts of unsupervised recounts, ballots being destroyedwithout review, etc.
What happened to Brenda? Brenda was suspended, then he suspension revoked so that she could resign to collect her $130,000 a year retirement ($60,000 of that was from being a teacher before her appointment as election supervisor)
By all accounts, Brenda was simply incompetent and not actively malicious (and it was republicans who allowed this black woman democrat to skate without facing proper due process for being a fuck up). But that's just one case where the there was a preponderance of evidence, including multiple witnesses and video, and you heard nearly nothing about it.
What I'm saying is I don't want to STOP at mandatory Voter ID (and I don't think anyone in this thread wants to either). But its a damn good place to start.
The Blockchain is sort of a dirty word thanks to Buttcoin and TED Talkers, but I would like to see some deep math shit where after you vote you get your I VOTED! Sticker, but also a QR code you can plug in and make sure your vote counted
But I am also a huge nerd and realize, especially the way the government would implement it, it would just create more problems than it would solve.
