A few weeks ago I posted in the Sideshows a troon who made himself cry by accidentally deadnaming himself in his own head. This really underlined that they spend as much energy, if not more, on deluding themselves as they do on browbeating others into compliance.
If you've been called Kevin for decades then your internal monologue is going to take a long while to shake that off. He chose Kathryn so that whenever he hears himself think of himself as Kevin, he can pretend more easily to have misheard his own mind. If he'd chosen Barbara, Zoe or Simone, hearing his own mind calling him Kevin would be a lot harder to brush off.

Poor girl. I don't know which is worse for a teenager growing up with a brother like Kevryn: having to constantly check your undergarments for cumstains before wearing them or not having the awareness to do so (as most girls won't) and wearing them anyway
