HQ got my whole family into miniature painting; by the time expansions were released, we were fighting over dibs on who got to paint what. My dad even ordered a couple replacement sets of monsters to paint.

We also left the original rules & storyline quests behind fairly quickly, and progressed into adapting AD&D rules for the game out of boredom.

I still wonder where all those things went, it'd save me a shitload of time doing it all over again.
Get it, play with your family..keep that you have the old ones a secret..and one day when you are running the game..bust out the original barbarian with the Bwoadsward as the final boss.

Just hoping they keep the old Gary Chalk art or at least hiring him to do more. Loved his Lone Wolf art.

Here ya go, fam.

Project Aon - Online Lone Wolf

I had all the Lone Wolf books, and painted the HQ orcs/ogres/goblins as close as I could to how I thought their uniforms would look, but especially the black swords.

HQ game figures were actually tits in quality; I went nuts with fine detail painting armor & weapons; but I sucked at doing skin/flesh & making it look real. My stepsister was bomb at that, so it all worked out trading ("I'll let you paint these ice bears, if you let me have all the chaos knights").

Now ideally if HQ succeeds, this could lead to hasbro bringing out more of the older games and miniatures.

Imagine if GW had competition from the largest toy company in the world, they would be forced to lower their prices to compete. 2021 is when hasbro wants to start heavily promoting AD&D so you're going to get tons of stuff viable for kitbashing like skeleton dragons and other generic fantasy creatures.

Pretty sure they're already starting. You can now find AD&D stuff in Target and Walmart. It's just a few miniatures, dice, and the core sets, but it is a lot more than when I was a kid.

they already are, ffg - now asmodee, who is buying everyone that doesn't hide fast enough - probably takes a nice bite out it with x-wing and maybe legion (no idea how successful the latter is, I know the rune wars miniatures were euthanized pretty quickly). there's still a rumor floating around they split because ffg wanted to do minis or was a direct response to whatever GW did (considering ffg didn't go all in when losing netrunner, which was a much bigger deal at that point).

their other games pretty much only sell on brand name alone, there's usually better stuff around while also being much cheaper.

Ahhh, HeroQuest, the game that had a PC version who's name I always confused for Quest for Glory. Haven't played this one in.... Jesus, long enough that I can't actually remember it.

I checked out the attic and still have the game with all the parts apparently.

I also found copies of these two issues of white dwarf in the same box in good condition:

I really hope what we see next week doesn't contain current year shit...

But it probably will.

Oh they are very much out

With epic classes like ORC AND TIEFLING Paladins.

One hour before they reveal the new WOKE Heroquest.

The only gender change is for the elf and she's hot.

I'm cool with this

The miniatures also look pretty good. Slightly more stylized but nothing that's on par with GW overly complicated stuff. It's got an air of simplicity around it.

And the furniture is back too, this time it's full plastic.

Price point is high for sure, but considering FFG's Descent was around 80$ a few years ago and it's a wanna-be HQ, I guess it's not that bad. Looks really good despite not having GW in there.

Too bad the rules didn't get updated. Looks like a straight reprint.
