WWE Champions General - Despite his claims, DSP is still spending thousands of dollars on the WWE Champions mobile game

So WWE Champions is just Bejeweled with wrestlers. Why the fuck would you spend money on this? I don't know why, but I was thinking it would be more similar to something like FIFA Ultimate Team/Guild Wars/Magic, at least those games have interactivity and the money is "well spent". Why doesn't he just play one of those games and spend money on it instead? It would be more fun and he might make some friends or something.
 
Question for the people that actually tried this game. I was always under the impression that the three headliners displayed on a persons account was automatically selected by the app and it always displayed your three highest wrestlers.

I watch Guersan's Gaming every so often to learn about the new events and ways Phil can spend his wheelchairs money with his crippling gacha addiction. There is a big event going on so Guersan was showing us different screens than what he normally shows in a video.

I saw this and was intrigued:

It looks like the player can choose which headliners to display themselves, which if true means that Phil could have several 5SB wrestlers, he is just refusing to display them so people can't accuse him of whaling. I know he got one free 5SB from the initial event.

Just weird that NotDSP wouldn't want to flex his best wrestlers because that is what it is all about right?

They're specifically designed to get people addicted and spend money rather than be any sort of challenge or require skill, like a one armed bandit is to a poker game. The WWE skin is basically irrelevant and could just as easily be hokcey, football, Formula 1 etc.

The three wrestlers that show up when you click on his profile are the three with the highest ‘talent’ rating, he can only change that by spending resources to make other wrestlers better. That screenshot is from the current ‘Gauntlet Blitz’, a limited-time event where you have to pick a few wrestlers to make it through a series of matches without healing. This particular blitz is interesting for our purposes because F2P players cannot participate at all, there are requirements for each slot that only the expensive premium wrestlers fulfill. If he shows up in the leaderboard, you'll know it's because he spent for the best jpegs to fill those 9 slots.

i'm pretty sure this is just for an event where you pick what wrestlers you put up

You also have to realize that Phil plays this for two reasons: his dopamine fix and for clout. He needs his fix simply because in Phil's head he equates winning to having fun; you can easily see it during his "street fighter" Fridays. He also needs the clout to ease his fragile ego. From the screen caps one can see all the humble brags and how he is the big dog, showing off his standings in the game. Tbh it's sad as hell when you realize by now the amount of money he must of spent on this game alone has probably doubled if not tripled.

Part of this thread is great because I get to see people learning all the most niche information regarding a shitty Bejeweled clone. You guys probably have a better understanding of the game's mechanics than Paul himself.

Phil is still going up half a player level per day, which at his level (417) the XP needed per level means he is playing something like an average of 50+ matches per day I think.

Also noticed all 3 of his front facing rasslers are the new 5-star versions. He just hasn't levelled them up yet maybe?

I don't play this game so not super sure on the exact specifics.

with 20k+ in vest money im surprised he hasn't hit vip 14 yet. unless the gap between 13 and 14 is like $100k...

At this point, 5 SB is the highest level. Scopely will eventually release 5SS and 5SG when they need that money to pay their bills.
