I might be wrong but I remember a reading a study that suggest an increase in estrogen among morbidly obese people. Would explain a lot if true.

Nah, that's an actual thing that does happen in the body. Decrease in activity and poor nutrition overall can cause less testosterone to be produced, and some part of all of the effects that has can cause the conversion of lots of other things I've forgotten into estrogen in the male body (males do produce it in small amounts). Man-tits are one of the bigger things you see as a result of that. I had concerns about it myself and did some quick reading on it a while back, but, everything I've read basically comes down to 'exercise a little and eat better/less'.
