Is modding a big problem on XB1/PS4? I know it's a big problem on PC.

I've actually heard that playing on last gen consoles is not that bad right now. Even though there were mods there too, since most people play on current gen it's a way more tame experience.

It's gotten ridiculous on PC

I don't know about modding on consoles but before I uninstalled GTA on PC earlier this year, I'd say you had a better than half chance of getting into a server with hackers. You can't really choose to play by yourself either and do stuff because it locks you out of doing professions in a personal lobby.

It's actually really easy to get into a solo public lobby on PC. The problem is that makes you realize even quicker how much copy/paste Rockstar actually does with the content and it gets super boring.

It sucks PC has the best framerate and load times by FAR but if you go into a public lobby you have 50% chance to just have random explosions target you or to have someone freeze your character or a million bullshitty things. Even worse for the month after an update drops.

Since most of the dudes I played with quit it's impossible for me to find new ones. Everyone is either a modder or a dipshit begging modders for money. Rockstar is bad for letting this happen but honestly the fanbase seems to be worse now. It's why I'm pretty much done unless there are some solid missions to play.

Since the thread starter said one could discuss non-GTA games; I've been playing Manhunt, recently. Very nice, certainly surprised to learn it came out in 2003, which means GTA 3, Vice City, and Max Payne 1 & 2 were also released by then. I thought Manhunt came out in 2005, but Rockstar was in a golden age from 2001 to 2006, with it slowly petering out over the next 7 years, even though they still released some pretty good stuff. It's just that they took longer with their games, and eventually come GTA V, it took them 6 years to make another game. Anyways; Manhunt.

I know the series is very controversial, and 2 was regarded just as a worse game overall, not just because of the censorship but also the gameplay; but I seriously do wonder how they would pull off a Manhunt 3. I mean, the original game has someone saying "limp dicked faggots", lynched bodies, pedophiles, skinheads who go on about you being a half breed: It just seems like it would be impossible to come close to that in this day and age, with even the sequel not really going as far as the first did, either. And that was released in 2007. A third one could be a surprise treat that could shock the world all over again; but that's very likely a pipe dream. Especially considering how things are right now. Rockstar's been fine grifting off GTA Online, so unless they can slap an online mode onto it, I seriously doubt they'd ever even bother to make a game that doesn't have an open world.

Yeah, and thanks to the manuals they include in PS4 PS2 Classics, I can see it whenever I want, which I plan on doing, now that I've been reminded of how fun that manual is. Man, what a joy old video game manuals were. I understand why they were phased out, and ultimately the paper that would be used for them is probably used for things like graph paper now, so it's not an entirely bad thing, but man, I'd certainly appreciate people making digital manuals in that vein for their games, just for the fun of it.

I LOVED manuals in video games. Say you bought a game from Gamestop and you're on your way back home, you crack open the case and do some light reading to anticipate the game.

R* was great at making game manuals. They would be more lore to immerse you in their world. GTA 3 was a "Welcome to Liberty City" introduction manual with game and character biographies. Vice City would expand that as a tourist guide of 80s Vice City (Miami). Liberty City Stories' manual was made into a Liberty Tree newspaper.

I remember reading the Vice City manual and it described how there were sharks in the water. (Best advice, STAY OUT OF THE WATER!) That explains why in a beach setting, nobody was in the water. But some pedestrians would still dress in bikinis and trunks.

I bought GTA V on disc, like all my games. It came with a foldout map of Los Santos... and that's it.

The "manual", if you can call it that, was just a sleeve with a controller diagram. Wow.

What I liked about GTA was how they implemented tutorials in their games. It would be a prompt with a mission and that was it.

New Update is out. Haven't played it yet (just woke up) but it looks to just be stuff to buy for the most part. new missions don't sound that great but hopefully I'm wrong on that.

The most interesting thing I'm seeing is that dataminers are claiming that a LOT of the new stuff have "CopsnCrooks" file names. If true, those rumors that a police themed update was scrapped after the George Floyd riots and this was a last minute thrown together thing is probably true lmfao

Some dudes on GTAForums are pissed. They have been wanting Cops and Crooks since launch. I'm kind of thinking that it's just going to be folded into whatever the Winter DLC is though, because of how much they keep hyping it's the "biggest update ever", The rest of them seem to be content with this update though. Some people are please by anything I guess :/

I care only about netcode fixes tbh

Heh, that will be the day

Late Edit: Someone has pointed out to me that Rockstar has mentioned the next update two more times but has stopped talking about the "new location". This probably means they're hoping to scale back all the expectations of another land mass when, like anyone with half a brain would have actually assumed, it's probably just taking place in a new interior like Fort Zancudo or something.

I can't even begin to imagine if GTA Online fanboys will lose their shit or eat it up like they do everything else that is released now.

If some of the new cars look cool I'll probably get them because I'm mostly a car gus anyway

I loved Cops and Crooks in IV. One life, get to the destination or kill the opposition. You basically had to escort somebody or survive.

Very tense and simple while being GTA. Being the cops was a rush to take down the crooks while staying alive. Role reversal although they're both in even playing field. (You can still pick up weapons as anybody else.)

I'm surprised Cops and Crooks wasn't in V. If it does come back, it'll probably be an adversary mode.

Yeah I've always said itd become an adversary mode if it came in and not be as good as in IV. More than likely not even that and they'd just use the name and make it nothing like it was in GTA IV.

LTJ no longer calls you constantly, he now texts you constantly.

Sometimes I feel like R* is taking the piss.

Why can't you turn off certain phone notifications. Put it in sleep mode like you could in single player.

I hate intrusive ads in my games. Reminds me of a free to play game. Only it's not free; you have to PAY to even play.

They want to annoy you into buying shit. I got calls from my assistant about how badly we needed a 30 car garage for over a year before it went on sale and I decided fuck it.

I still get calls from Bryony about the stupid as fuck Arena War garage to this day. She can keep calling though I have absolutely no use for that stupid shit.

Edit: most probably dont care but they fixed the Casino Heist Gold duplication glitch.
