I was re-watching the MundaneMatt exposed Killstream, and Ethan comes off as a lot more likable, entertaining, and even genuine.
I've never understood how hard people can fall in such a short amount of time.
Here's the list of reasons:
1. Having a problem and not dealing with it.
2. Censorship
3. Live meetup
The core issue was the alcoholism and not being able to arrange things well with cohosts. Zidane was an essential part that made things work and if you continue to ask him to do it for free, things down the shitter eventually.
The live meetup led to a fallout between people that had previously been supporting each other and it brought new insight into the people involved, particularly the gunt, stuff that's easy to hide on a camera blind stream.
It also destroyed the mystery. The looks of these guys isn't doing them any favors.
The censorship is also considerable. The left wing political gamer oriented channels like destiny grew a lot because they got to fill the void. Before the show was huge on youtube. And think about what having a show that big does. Everybody wants to be a part of it, you're connected to a lot of people so you automatically receive better guests, better callers, better anonymous tips. There just is a huge effect from being big that's hard to even quantify.
By being booted off of youtube it basicly means you both shrink and don't have an avenue to grow.
If I have a link to an interesting video, I can embed it on kiwifarms if it's youtube, but you have to open a new window if it's bitchute or dlive or whatever. That is just a strong difference in virality. Half of the time I don't even link a bitchute, because I know most people wouldn't open it anyways.
It's basicly a case study in how effective censorship is. People screaming muh streissand effect are wrong. It's also a case study that shows how the most visible pundits, journalists, talking heads don't need to be compromised to be completely one-sided with bias, as only a particular type is allowed to succeed and those succeeding might not even be aware of why.
But at the core is really unwillingness to grow. A lack of humility. Anything comedy related ceases to be funny when a guy takes himself too serious, unless that itself is the joke.
