Am I the only one who finds the fact that a church disfellowshipped a young man who'd fallen into some kind of a hard time to be a bit bullshit? I could understand putting him in a timeout to think about what he'd done, but if he repented and made good on not ever showing his oddly clean asshole on the internet ever again why not let him back in? Even the Jehovah's Witnesses will let you back in if you apologize, they don't want to see you burn in hellfire for eternity for falling away.

Sorry to powerlevel but these were honestly the sorts of tactics I saw constantly being deployed in humanities/social science classes in college. It's a very weak approach. "oh you said one thing that could be interpreted as false/bad faith therefore your entire argument is invalid." Alinsky ridicule tier stuff.
