To be fair, I think those things need to be taught about in school, as we don't want to repeat them. But any similar behavior by nonwhites and/or non-Christians is either treated with kid gloves or completely ignored. This is lying by omission.

I went to a Christian school. In history courses, we learned how everyone was bad, the Church included. The Islamic world and its slave trade in particular didn't get a pass.

The concepts of freedom and despotism look a lot different when your curriculum is written by ideologues who believe they've been persecuted since the time of ancient Rome, including persecution by their own church.

I'd highly recommend a book called The Story of Liberty, published in 1878. It tracks the Western concept of liberty with the Magna Carta as a starting point, tracks it through 600 years of European wars and Luther's Reformation, and ends with America as the repository for this concept of freedom. It has a Christian slant, of course, but it covers quite a few forgotten aspects of history that illustrate why certain freedoms and rights are important.

It's also why I can't take the BLM or SJW claims of "oppression" seriously. Compared to the legal systems mentioned in that book, the system we have today is ridiculously tilted towards protecting rights and favoring the individual. You have to try really hard to get screwed under the American criminal system, relative to what your ancestors put up with.

One officer was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the neck. At 11:30 a.m. doctors said they are working to stabilize him.

No, many of them know exactly this, and while they all talk of doing things "after the revolution" they all want to be the chief, they all want to be the officer checking people's purity etc etc.

The reality is they're the ones that will be for the show trials first while the useful members of society will be quietly moved around.
