I don't know if they're the aforementioned state police, I assume so. Either way those cops pushed back rioters several blocks instead of the feds' usual 1-2 block radius.

western media has been shit for literal years, food might be a concern but the usa doesn't rely on china for that, quite the opposite. any manufacturing isn't coming back anyway and any cost from moving factories to other SEA countries or even south america will just be put on the pricetag.

as for "losing the battle, but prepping for winning the war" - that mindset doesn't exist on the left, just look at labour in the uk. the place to start that would've been 4 years ago, instead we got drowned in incessant screeching with democrats crawling up their own ass even further.
at this point nothing short of a complete purge would suffice, but that would shatter the DNC so it's not gonna happen. which means they can't reverse course either and will drive head first into the wall they built themselves. once trump is out it's basically a race to the bottom (either next year or 2025).

Given how cold and pragmatic most of the corporate elite are, a second term of Trump would make them shift gears and given how much the DNC establishment hates The Squad and views them as a monkey's paw, I would not put it past them to do as much internal purging as possible and any remaining useful wokesters would likely be given the ultimatum of getting with the program or being forced out of the party.

I do know that we're the chief exporter of food to the world, but I've pondered the possibility of the extended lockdowns causing domestic shortages in late 2020 or early 2021. That could be another issue to think about as well.

Hard disagree. They think they have the greenlight, but the reason why there isn't much of a real pushback in the United States is because of the election year. Nobody wants another repeat of Charlottesville. Wait until November. Once the election is over and done with, that's when you'll see some kind of pushback.

The question will be whether or not the pushback will be done via federal crackdowns and the corporate elites throwing the loose cannons under the bus to save face (if Trump wins) or if more people get desperate and start to go "Screw your optics, I'm going in" on Antifa and BLM (if Biden wins)

And I'm pretty sure the inventors of AstroTurf will do their own purges when they have all these black supremacists and communists (both groups notorious for antisemitism) running around in a post-Biden win.

We're already seeing a bit of both outcomes in terms of purging the more overt antisemitic black supremacists and commies, and the Federal agents cracking down on Antifa and the chaos in Portland.

The corporate elite were losing lots of money stateside, but the profits from the Chinese market more than made up for that during all those years.

If the Chinese market can't save their asses, they'll have to make tough choices and adjust their plans to win back the American market, since the profits will matter again.

The revenue streams of these places means they absolutely can sink money, cancel moves and shrug at the bottom line before moving tens of thousands of jobs wherever the fuck they want. It's why Amazon's invested massively into Bellevue and it'd be a bucket drop in the company's wider revenue stream to simply build a new campus.

Amazon has 6,000 employees in Seattle, and is on the way to have 15,000 in Bellevue in comparison.

You'll find there's still a shocking diversity of thought on the right wing in the West, Free marketeers versus nationalists, Green Capitalists versus Conservationists, traditionalists versus more liberal interpretation of what constitutes the same etc. Even "Socialist" Conservatives who think that only the state can provide a solution for the majority of social ills as companies have been found to fall short (in the UK known as "Red Tories" a new and large faction in the UK's conservative party due to seat makeup).

On the left? At the ground level? Not so much. You have basically left wing extremists screaming the loudest, with most all trying to out do each other in purity terms. In the UK they caught control of a major political party and while the purging has begun, it's nowhere near the same ruthlessness shown by the Conservatives and their europhile problem.

Mostly because they need these voters and their endless demands for gender special bathrooms and an end to all evil microaggressions and destruction of history in order to make the world clean and new and "better".

I often wonder what those early leftists would think of their movement these days, the ideology was founded in a time of genuine unrest and injustice, where workers rights did not exist and you could be fired for any and no reason whatsoever, with many finding their breakthrough in the turmoil of the Great War. Those movements cherished the working class family and the worker as well as good education. Now their Great Grandchildren are mutilating their bodies, are overwhelmingly middle class in their income brackets and screaming at imaginary monsters.

Was talking to an ex colleague who now works for a big clinical services company. Global, tens of thousands of employees, based in USA. They’ve been saying all the right things about diversity - but she noted the following:
1. That the diversity chat was very much NOT mentioning BLM but sticking to the company line of being decent to each other and not tolerating discrimination, and of meritocracy. No support for BLM was mooted at all, even though the anti racism buzzwords were used
2. The unconscious bias training was instituted with all the right loud fanfare but it was actually fairly reasonable (one in-passing mention of gender/race and the rest focusing on things like not basing the appraisal of employees on a single event.) no guilt, she was surprised - note this company employs people globally and places like Russia, Israel and China don’t like the bullshit.
3. The whole spiel looks like lip service to placate a very small but loud LGBT group within the company but is in reality a bunch of nothing, while they just get on with making fucktons of money. They’re a global outfit and so have always been quite tight on discrimination.
Was interesting to hear. The corporates are interested in money and power, they dgaf about all this and they will drop it the second it stops being trendy, or starts losing them good staff, or negative publicity. The troublemakers amd dangerhairs will be quietly managed out

They've been tricked into believing nuanced thought is a trait of bigots and extremists because it allows wrongthink to flourish if you don't take an absolute stance against injustice, whatever that is to them.

If you tell them the Democrats of old supported things like the KKK, they reply 'well they switched political labels long ago, so actually it was the Republicans all along.' It's fine to be skeptical, but you can't have a real conversation with idealogues.
