Not sure whether I would call this confidence. It comes across as denial/ him hunting for approval and "validation" from similar minded people from his hug-boxes. He doesn't take well to negative comments, as evidenced by him feeling the need to reply to a kill it with fire comment and him deleting his old reddit account due to trolls.
