I mean, it is prison, so it's not great. But the worst ones in Canada probably aren't as bad as the worst ones in the US.

I had an ex whose mom worked at a hospital near one of the big women's prisons. They were worse than the male prisoners that she had to deal with.

I wonder if it has something to do with the healthcare system? Prisons in general are usually not known for keeping an eye in their prisoners' health.

Oh boy, so either he gets sent to male prison and gains a new way of walking, or he get sent to the women's prison and... Gets a new way of walking... Can't wait to find out which (though I have a feeling it's just gonna be a slap on the wrist).

The US prison system has excellent healthcare, unironically. Most of what people think of US prisons are from 90s and 00s movies. The prison system, especially federal, has been cleaned up immensely. Fuck, you even get the new meme Hep C cure in prison. That course of meds is tens of thousands normally.

Due to lack of funding I'd bet Canadian prisons are probably worse. The Canadians haven't had a magnifying glass on them for the last 20 years telling them to clean the fuck up.

Plus in the United States, if you want to cut off your dick and pretend to be a woman the prisons have to pay for it. They claim it's a violation of your Constitutional rights against cruel and unusual punishment not to do this.
 
I would assume this is a nothing burger. But I am curious if in Canada this and his current ongoing Weapons Charges might have some effect on each other? I would think even in Canada this might get a Judge to strongly insist on a psych eval. And maybe send the Mounties 'round to Yaniv's with a Cadaver Dog.
