Wouldn't the doctors look at her and think this woman needs a controlled diet before she goes under the knife?
Oncologists treat unhealthy patients with co-morbidities all the time, but they also postpone treatment often when patients aren't deemed fit to tolerate it. A small weight loss isn't going to reduce her risk to any meaningful extent and she's not going to lose a large amount of weight in the short to medium term.
The question is really whether her team are prepared to proceed with surgery at her current size or whether they'll opt for another form of treatment to try to keep the cancer under control until she loses a substantial enough amount of weight to reduce her surgical risk.
