I haven't watched Linkara in years. Like many others, the storyline skits just got on my nerves. I had no idea about the Iron Liz drama, or his fetishes being discovered until this thread. I might check him out again if he mixed his formula up and tried branching out as an entretainer.

I stopped watching him for a while but when I tried to get back into is work, his skits got in the way of my enjoyment. I couldn't follow what was going on even if I cared about the plot. It confused me and I didn't see it as worth my time to go through his older videos to understand. He should make his skits their own show by themselves at this point. I think he would be better served making it a parody of comic book plots. I do give credit that the skits highlight the absurdity of your standard comic book plot.
 
I think that is the issue with angry reviewers in the first place, they don't actually review their points of interest with any credibility. They just mindlessly bash certain properties of a medium that are usually well known as being of poor quality. The entire M.O. is not to contribute to the medium itself, but to regurgitate and self promote their own brand of "humor". When they milk every last "bad" point of interest, then they force their humor into their videos. Little do they know that what made them funny in the first place originated with what they would criticize, and because their was no real creative contribution in the first place, they mistake their own brand of humor as the driving force of their popularity. Hence the unfunny story arcs and watered down nonsense people like Linkara create.

On tgwtg in particular they are often bad for spending more time describing the events and story in whatever it is they are reviewing than actually talking about their opinion and why they liked/disliked a thing.

AT4W was never much more than a lets read with the odd snarky comment. For people who were so smug about being 'critics. they did very little analysis beyond cheap jokes and memes.

People would not watch it. Not even Doug was able to kill the Nostalgia Critic to do other stuff. Even being paralel with the reviews would just be "to much work".

And who's fault is that? The CA contributors have spent years pandering to the lowest common denominator autists of the Internet. They've conditioned people looking for more intelligent content or former fans who have grown up to give up on them and watch RLM or something similar, and now they're mad they can't move on?

CA contributors, surely you remember Matthew 7:26? It was in The Simpsons. It shouldn't be that hard to remember.
 
I suspect that Linkara is a furry. As far as I know, NOT Lewis Lovhoug's love interest in Angel Armor is a cat girl, and not the type you usually see in Japan, an actual furry. In addition, Lewis has come to the defense of furries across the years in the old forums of CA (Sadly the forum links are dead), as well as acknowledging the furry fandom in AT4W a few times, and commenting that he's not going to rant on them.

That said, usually when people spend hours looking at somethin that horrible, the government is paying them to apprehend the people responsible for its production and consumption.

Honestly, if Linkara is a furry, that would be the least irritating thing about him.
 
I think out of all the people on CA Linkara is the closest to being a lolcow. He's not a full blown lolcow like Chris or Ahuviya, but he comes close.

Off topic, I've been reading this and the angry critics thread and hearing that all these reviewers I used to watch turn out to be shitty people makes me sad. I guess e fame does that to people I guess.
 
Nah, we just didn't know any better at the time. Go back and look at some of the stuff they've done back when people actually liked CA reviewers. Look at the way Doug quit his job. Look at Lewis' writings and Lightbringer. Look at Noah wasting his education and leeching off his family even back when he had more of his shit together.

You're right that things have gotten worse, but can you really say there weren't signs if you look at their past? Hell, we don't really know these people all that well, and usually when we find something out about their personal life, it makes them look like shit. Look at Hope Chapman. She shit talked CA behind their backs to avoid getting the abuse Lupa did, and then cried about how hard it was for her to leave even though she actually had a secure gig for quite some time and a properly connected boyfriend in So-Cal. Does that really not overlap with her upbringing and her personality and her dumping her boyfriend after they bought a house together to go digging for gold?

Really, they have no one to blame but themselves.

Hey Hope? You reading this? Why don't you come post on a forum people can actually see and explain what a shitty person you are? We won't filter shit. You'll have all the freedom you like, and we might even let things slide if you share stories of the time you accidentally found Linkara's erotic fan-fiction about Harley Quinn magically growing a penis. To be fair, the other stuff he tried to do sucked and he has only himself to blame for ever thinking it'd take off.
 
The saddest part about Lewis Lovhoug is that he used to be funny and entertaining. Then he wrote the story arcs, which should NEVER be used in a review series (due to the fact that new viewers will be too confused to catch on), and his ego began seeping to his show, especially at the Vyse arc, where he stops A MULTI-VERSAL CONQUEROR. BY HIMSELF. In comparison, Red Letter Media does storylines, but they are light-hearted and do not affect Half in The Bag and Plinkett reviews in major ways, and the storylines do not occupy more than 1o% of the videos. If you do want to have serious story arcs, make a spinoff dedicated to those ideas.
 
Honestly, at some point I swear those story arcs devolved into a wish-fulfillment fic, what with his super forms, Power Rangers and Star Trek tech that seems to inexplicably appear when the plot demands a deus ex machina, and he not only takes out a discount Lord Zedd, but goes GTA on his spaceship too. And then he gets a mecha, and that's saying nothing of his magic gun. Then there was Pollo and NIMUE. It doesn't seem like there should really be much of a conflict with all those gadgets and gizmos. Damn, I watched that shit much longer than I should've...

I'm thinking back to one of his older reviews(can't remember which one), but he basically points out how much has changed about him, and then there was the brief clip show at the start of his 100th episode...I wonder if we should've seen those as warning signs of what was to come? I never really paid much mind when I heard people saying that they had all but stopped watching AT4W, but I think understand why after reading this thread.

Not as much. The movie will have the other CA members helping Lewis, and it won't be just him. Lewis was smart enough to have him cooperate with another reviewer during another arc, so it isn't as bad as OPL's crap.
 
The mechkara arc was actually good. Not too much buildup, and the payoff was not stretched out (lasted 10 minutes or so) and was exciting yet still funny.
