Patreon donations are largely based on altruistic intenctions by thankful and generous people or simps, that's to say, social capital not economic one, I fail to see how a literal who is going to be able to replicate Lowt's success in the platform when said literal who has clearly a for-profit motivation.Someone posted on SA a couple of days ago that they'd be willing to give lowtax $150,000 for Something Awful. I think that seems fair, since the Patreon was yielding 100k a year and could do so again with some luck and the right marketing.
Goons weren't seeing this as a business, they were seeing it, to use Josh's word, as a "cooperative effort", you can't run that as you would run any other enterprise, or you can... depends if Goons are financially cucked and self-hating enough.
Same thing goes for Gaming Garbage. Is 'gaming garbage' a something awful thing or lowtax's own project? I know separating the two is a bit arbitrary but I wouldn't have assumed this YouTube channel and the patreon would be included in any deal.
