In fact, how does a main character that isn't the main character of their own world get off any speech, less much a ton of 'em?

Oh look, another speech. Didn't RvB start doing that during the 6th or 7th season and then kept doing them every season after? Even when RvB was good (everything before Halo 4), the speeches were kind of cringe-inducing.

The season 8 speech Sarge gave was the best one as it developed his character a lot. To bad that post season 10 the show and characters were so different that you could call it a new series.

It's because people are trying to make it so whenever someone in a high position (such as Miles, creative director/lead writer for RWBY) make an advance - it's automatically rape. This is because they have a high position and if the girl says "No thanks" there's an implicit fear that by saying that there will be repercussions, such as being blackballed in the industry.

It's 100% nonsense, but it's what the corpse of #metoo has become.

They really are trying to copy shonen. One of the only speeches I can actually count as being better than her rants would be Mayuri's gripes about perfection.

But it's easier to animate than a fight scene and you don't have to show charachter/world/plot devolopment when a high pitched voice can just tell people what's going on and how to feel.

Rooster Teeth has been revealed to be a hive of scum and villainy for some time now. The only thing saving them is probably the NDA's that they force employee's to sign.

And Miles seems to be having a shit year on social media. He'll never realize that these people will come after him again and again for being human.

Rooster Teeth would have been better off remaining the shitlords they started off as.

Speeches in general should be a last resort thing. The fact they seem to keep using it as a plot device shows that they literally got nothing because "Animating fight scenes hard!"
