Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome joined "The Story" Wednesday to discuss the direction of the movement in the wake of George Floyd's death in police custody and the subsequent demonstrations across the country, many of which have sparked destruction and violence.

"You ... have said that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations," host Martha MacCallum told Newsome. "What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?"

"Wow, it's interesting that you would pose that question like that," Newsome responded, "because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what's our diplomacy across the globe?

"We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical."

MacCallum clarified that her question was based off comments she had heard Newsome utter in various interviews.

"I said," Newsome told the host, "if this country doesn't give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it. All right? And I could be speaking ... figuratively. I could be speaking literally. It's a matter of interpretation.

"Let's observe the history of the 1960s, when black people were rioting," he went on. "We had the highest growth in wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks since we started protesting. There have been eight cops fired across the country."

"I don't condone nor do I condemn rioting," Newsome added. "But I'm just telling you what I observed."

Later in the interview, Newsome insisted the Black Lives Matter movement is about "saving lives" and its adherents should be "applauded" for upholding the Second Amendment.

"Nobody's talking about ambushing police officers. We're talking about protecting lives," he said. "There's nothing more American than that. We talk about uplifting and upholding the Second Amendment but it seems to be the hypocrisy of America that when black people start talking about arming themselves and defending themselves, [that] talk is 'violent'. But when white people grab assault rifles and go to our nation's, their state capitals, it's all good."

The interview took a turn after MacCallum read a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. and asked Newsome if he agreed with it.

"Let us be dissatisfied," King told the Southern Christian Leadership Conference convention in 1967, "until that day when nobody will shout, 'White power!', when nobody will shout, 'Black power!', but everybody will talk about God's power and human power.'"

"I love the Lord and my Lord and savior," Newsome responded to MacCallum's prompt. "Jesus Christ is the most famous black radical revolutionary in history. And he was treated just like Dr. King. He was arrested on occasion and he was also crucified or assassinated. This is what happens to black activists. We are killed by the government."

At the conclusion of the interview, Newsome told MacCallum, "I just want black liberation and black sovereignty, by any means necessary."

Appearing Wednesday on the Fox News Channel’s The Story with host Martha MacCallum, Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome warned that if the United States “doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it.”

A partial transcript is as follows:

MARTHA MACCALLUM: People watch what you say in that video, that you now want to show legislation down people’s throats now that you have everyone’s attention and you’ve also said violence is sometimes necessary in these situations. What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?

HAWK NEWSOME: Wow, it’s interesting that you would pose that question like that because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what’s our diplomacy across the globe? We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical.

[…]

MACCALLUM: The only reason why I posed that first question to you the way that I did is I watched you talking on a bunch of different interviews today and you said, “burn it down.” You said, “burn it down, it’s time.” That makes me think you want to burn it down.

HAWK NEWSOME: I said If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down the system and replace it. All right? And I could be speaking figuratively, I could be speaking literally. It’s a matter of interpretation. Let’s be very real and let’s observe the history of the 1960s. When black people were rioting, we have their highest growth and wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks. Since you started protesting there have been eight cops fired across the country. Remember you were telling us that there was Due Process?

That’s why the cop that choked Eric Gardner kept his job and kept receiving raises for five years. Anytime a cop hurt a woman, a child, our elders, there was always a call for due process. But the moment people start destroying property, now cops can be fired automatically. What is this country rewarding? What behavior is it listening to? Obviously not marching. But, when people get aggressive and they escalate their protests, cops get fired, now, you have police officers and Republican politicians talking about police reform. I don’t condone nor do I condemn rioting but I’m just telling what I observed.

Does this guy realize that was the time Martin Luther King Jr, a massive adovcate for peaceful protests and the figurehead of standing up for racial equality, was also active around that time? I think that might have something to do with that figure as well.

No, MLK would be a big fan of these protests! Look at these quotes we took out of context.

The time has come brothers. Prepare your weaponized n-words to scare them back to their ghettos.

Last week, I had to sit through what I’d essentially call “Black Sensitivity Training”, where a group of black people were given full reign to describe and define that they feel is “”white privilege””. This went over just as well as you’d expect, with numerous individuals totally bending a knee to the presenters, now being totally enlightened to prejudice that they’ve (or the black peoples for that matter) never actually experienced.

I have many black colleagues who are great to work with, fun to interact with, and are just overall swell people. In the midst of this newfound and forced awareness, they’ve told me that they are now feeling racial prejudice they’ve never felt before because all of “”their”” “plights” are being placed on a pedestal for everyone to gawk at. They’ve also found that people are reluctant to speak or associate with them because they don’t want to feel as if they are somehow offending these individuals.

I have no doubt that black people experience prejudice, but not all of them do, or at least to the exaggerated levels social media and other outlets will have you believe. It’s really easy for these “protected” figureheads to lead their crusade from the comfort of their computer, and doesn’t that sound familiar?

I haven't been put through that yet, but I know its coming once we all start going back to the office.

And like you said, all this is going to do is going to lead to black people being treated like fragile little porcelain dolls, and white people will either go overboard trying to suck up to and take care of them, or just avoid them altogether to avoid any possibility of being called racist.

Its kind of like the MeToo thing where when all the accusations came out (both true and false), men started going "OK, avoid women at the office as much as possible".

This is the world they want. Hope you fuckers enjoy it.

Tough talk, but these are the same people who scatter in all directions when a gunshot goes off.

Hey, the dude got in his verbal masturbation. Hope he isn't late picking up his welfare check and food stamps.

More seriously, this is the kind of talk that ensures BLM will lose a tremendous amount of support from non-black people who didn't like what happened to Floyd. Just like blocking streets/roads, serves no useful purpose and just loses supporters. Also gives certain other extremists more ammunition to recruit people.

Blocking the Oakland Bay Bridge during rush hour doesn't win them any fans.

Jesus christ the doublethink. "Violence is good because the country is based on violence which is bad". Calling others a hypocrite doesn't cover you jogger from also being a hypocrite.

"I think white people deserve this, I'm glad they're afraid and suffering, it should happen to them more often, and I hope it happens to them over and over again until I get what I want... but let's be CLEAR here, I do NOT CONDONE any of this."

I hope those protesters get charged with attempted murder

When I looked it up Snopes was one of the first results, holy fucking bias

Snopes some how thinks that makes it "unverified"
Snopes was/is run by a dude who brought on an escort as a fact checker and ended up divorcing his wife for her. His wife accused him of embezzling company money to pay for prostitutes in the divorce. Nothing they say is credible, really. I used to think it was, but once I found out that this was the caliber of "researcher" that they were hiring, I stopped checking Snopes for anything.

I did too, from what I recall it went down the shitter around the divorce, I only clicked on snopes out of cursorily since it was listed among the top just to see how they would twist it.
As shitty as XKCD has became too, I remember when Snopes was creditable XKCD jokingly called them out:

Gab. Wow.

We must be close to him saying this is about Gamergate 2.0

Withdraw all troops from NATO bases in Europe (and take all our shit with them).

Halt all funding to sanctuary cities/states.

Give all cops in BLM rioting affected areas a federally funded week off.

Blam, solved like half of this shit in three sentences.

Withdraw all troops from NATO bases in Europe (and take all our shit with them).
Honestly that would be bad foreign policy, there are reasons why the US are in NATO bases all across europe more then just "to keep Russia out".
It helps keep our troops ready to respond to any threat/crisis across the globe that may threaten the US and its interests. Its easier faster say to transport troops to the ME from Germany then form the US and transporting the wounded back from the Middle East to Germany.

There, FTFY
