Ultimately if the media/ADL/SPLC call you out, you're likely to lose your ability to process money. This is the ultimate form of censorship in the United States. It's not the government, but other private entities will make it impossible for you to exist on a financial basis.

The conspiracy is that all this phone number gathering is going to lead to a privatized social credit system like in China. If you're not allowed a cell phone or a bank account, are you even a person in modern society?

We're also seeing countries thinking China's New Internet has potential because you can dictate what people see online and control it's use. The United States could fight China on this front but they would rather spend billions on their military than putting up investment firms to block out China's growth. So we see processing companies allowing for all of this censorship because no one sees a point in fighting it. Not mention organizations with the power to cripple anything they want by claiming "hate group" or some other nonsense.

Telegram is not private, but it's run by based Russians. How based? When people were putting the pressure on them to start censoring IS, they told them that the Europeans shouldn't have let in so many Muslims if they didn't want terrorism.
They eventually caved, but you get the picture. Telegram does need a phone number, but the odds of them going insane about the SJW nonsense is slim to none.

It's a shame alternatives like IRC, XMPP and Matrix are now pretty much only used to discuss a few tech niches like Programming or FOSS, or as a backyard for stuff that goes against discock's rules, like piracy. All of my favorite channels just moved to discord and had the mods lock the original channels or just nag everyone still at the IRC to go over to Discord for no reason other than "lol it's old". As long as you can run both, who gives a shit about which one they're using?

discord as a concept is cool but discord it's self is fucking shit i'm pretty sure its been classed as spyware as well.
