So, I've ended up getting my first models... Not to play though.

I picked up a second hand copy of the board game Nemesis, and I want to paint the knock off xenomorphs and player models. So to practice I bought the 3 pack of easy build Reivers. Going to paint two as Raptors, have my wife paint one however she likes.

well iv stumbled on a older metal model, looks to be one of the five 2010 sternguard vets.

seems to be the feller up the top left, tho where the rest of his squad is remains a mystery.

So, potentially dumb question here. What is GW going to do with IG now that Cadia just doesn't exist in 9th ed? I don't play guard so my information may be a little wrong but aren't the base guardsmen models Cadians? Are they going to continue to sell the Cadians but just call them generic guardsmen, are they going to pretend Cadia is still a place that exists, are we going to get some new Guard regiments to play? It just seems like they've backed themselves into a corner with the IG branding.

Cadia is gone, but there're still uncountable regiments of Cadian IGs out there. I suspect their model will continue for a long time.

It's probably a pretty common look for IG across the galaxy.

if 1d4chan is to be believed that might not be the case,
According to the 7e Astra Militarum codex, every single Cadian regiment was recalled back to Cadia by Creed to defend it. Given that there were only 4 million Imperial survivors out of the original 850 million Imperials initially present, the vast majority of Cadian regiments were likely annihilated. Of course, it's unknown just how many Cadian regiments actually managed to get to Cadia in time before the shit hit the fan, but it's safe to say that certain Imperium reports that 90% of Cadia's Guard forces were off-world at the time and thus have survived the Fall of Cadia are either complete grox manure, or there were just THAT many Cadia guard regiments exported over the centuries. Given how long the Imperium has been around and the staggering size of the Guard, the latter may actually be more likely.
But at this point iv stopped trying to follow GW lore.

Gonna be borrowing some *methods* from the Death Korps.

seems the smart thing to do given the state of the imperium, makes me wander if there be any tests with home grown SM tho?
From what I understand the DKOK have to yeet a lot of the tube babies, and that the high Lords only allow it because they are the only humans in the imperium that just like going into the meat grinder. I doubt a lot of the Astartes would be cool with it.

suppose so, but there are those space marine chapters whose recruitment process kills 95% of their aspirants, so it would be an interesting thing to see, hell the primaris couldnt have always the perfect beings they are now so id think cawl would had to cull every now and again.

If a Death Korps guardsman survives a battle, it is a nearly unbearable shame and would probably drive him or her to madness.

I remember in Dead Men Walking the Kriegers that survive get promotions to replace officers that died leading a charge or get put in the grenadier squads to go have guaranteed suicide missions.

I also don't think the Cadians are going anyplace and we'll continue to see the green armor over tan fatigues used even though the 8th Cadian all died on Cadia. I'm also fine with this. I think the Cadians are a better poster boy to represent the average man standing against the horrors of the universe then say the 80s action heroes of Catachan or the soulless tube men of Krieg. I wouldn't mind the Steel Legion getting a push though.

The whole idea of having poster boys because GW is such a contrived inconvenience. There's more to eldar than flipping Saim-hann of all craftworlds, more to IG than just Cadia, more to chaos than the black legion, more to the sisters of battle than Martyred Lady. They should push the "your dudes" aspect of the hobby harder.

But fuck do these models look like ass, dog. I would be fucking seething if I played sob or harleys.

Its current year. Pretty females are cancelled. Women are not allowed breasts larger then a B cup, and their face needs to be as manly chiseled as possible so that nobody can find them attractive. Also men need to be in skin tight suits, with clear cock bulges and be ripped AF.

its almost like all our pop culture companies are infested with angsty females and gay men.

Also, I legit thought that Sister of battle was a dude. If you took away the fleur de lis you would not even know it was female. No tits, close cropped hair and the torso of a washboard. Its a man baby.

well that but also the fact that GW couldn't sculpt a good female face to save their lives if it came down to it, hell remember the old metal sisters?

what doesnt help sisters either is their recent art, in which you cant tell whether their sisters or misters of battle, atleast with older art you could do so.

GW has never sculpted female faces well. The odd times this has happened, like with that commissar lady, are mostly flukes. Also having read Daemonifugue I would not call Ephrael Stern a valley beauty.
