Rayshard Brooks, 27, who had fallen asleep in his vehicle, failed a sobriety test, officials said. He was shot after a struggle over a Taser he grabbed from an officer, the authorities said.

An Atlanta man died after being shot by the police who found him asleep at a Wendy’s drive-through on Friday night, the authorities said.
The man, who was identified as Rayshard Brooks, 27, of Atlanta, had fallen asleep in his vehicle, causing other customers to drive around him, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
Mr. Brooks struggled with the police officers after he failed a sobriety test, the authorities said. As he was being arrested, he resisted and witnesses reported that Mr. Brooks grabbed and was in possession of a Taser that had been deployed by the police.
He was shot during the struggle, the bureau said, though a bystander’s video shared on social media showed the struggle between Mr. Brooks and officers, and appeared to show him running away when the police opened fire.
Mr. Brooks was taken to a hospital where he died after surgery. One officer was treated for an injury during the episode and was later released.
The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said it was conducting its own investigation into the shooting, separate from the bureau’s.
“Our thoughts and our sympathies are extended to the family of Rayshard Brooks as we must not forget that this investigation is centered upon a loss of life,” the district attorney, Paul L. Howard Jr., said in a statement.
State and local officials spoke out about the shooting.
The Rev. James Woodall, the state president of the N.A.A.C.P., said on Saturday of Mr. Brooks, “there was nothing that he did that was deserving of death.”
“Our overall message is that we are done dying,” the reverend said. “We are done waking up at 1 or 2 in the morning to another murder or yet another case of police brutality.”
Former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said on Twitter that the killing of Mr. Brooks “demands we severely restrict the use of deadly force.” She added, “sleeping in a drive-thru must not end in death.”

Well we all witnessed the siege of Autozone and Target in the Civil War. Now, we get to see their next movement after ANTIFA military campaign of seizing downtown Seattle. The siege of Wendy's...

In all seriousness though, isn't sleeping in a Wendy's parking lot trespassing on private property; Along with the fact he was obscuring traffic. Then of course the scuffle with the cops, along with JOGGING AWAY WITH SAID COPS WEAPON a fundamentally important aspect to this equation. Don't these people understand that it's probably not the best tactic to fight and then run away from the police??? Just like COVID, these people are going to do nothing but grasp at fucking straws to keep the chimp outs in full force.

Body cam footage has been released. The police where perfectly courteous and the guy was drunk as a skunk.

No footage of the actual shooting from this angle as the camera fell off during the struggle.

Inebriated in a drive-thru maybe?
This racebaiting piece of shit should be shot into the sun.

Either you accept blatant media lies as truth or you're a white supremacist racist. And now start wondering why the media has been pushing racial hatred for decades.
It's an election year. Mobilizing the base and baiting the other side into making a mistake is the way this game is played.
What do I win?

Wendy's just fucked up my order, how do I instigate a nog to commit some crimes in the parking lot, get shot, and get the building burnt down?

So it seems https://archive.md/sFlUz
.....The message is clear, you can do what ever the fuck you want in Atlanta as long as you are black.

That puts the department at risk for being sued. But, I guess it's worth it to placate idiotic mobs.

No way the prosecutors even touch this. The "investigation" is just a bullshit empty gesture...

The cop will probably relocate and be hired someplace else...

Why can blacks not understand the relationship between actions and consequences?

Yes, I know it's easier to blame wypipo but, Jesus Christ. My cat - who may be the stupidest creature on the planet - knows better than to shit where he eats.

Firing the cop is going to be one of those things that come back to haunt the city down the line. Especially when the video evidence shows that the guy was running and turned back to fire the stolen tazer at the cops.

The cop has a pretty damn solid case for improper termination and is a lawsuit/reinstatement case ready to happen. Also, the local police department/union has to be pretty ticked off at the complete lack of administrative review before the resignations and terminations started getting thrown about.

This illustrates exactly the sort of situation that will get some idiot social worker killed if any city actually replaces cops with social workers. The cops knew this guy was going to pull some shit, and even they weren't fully prepared for it. There are plenty of idiots out there who will watch that video and think, "Wow, he was so nice!" Most violent people can be nice for a minute.

Honestly, why would a cop do their job now that they know the mayor's gonna throw them under the bus? Might as well be fashionably late, do the absolute minimum and then go back to sit in the station doing jack shit. You won't get fired or lynched this way. This baffled me during the Floyd riots and will continue to baffle me here.

Oh it's going to haunt BLM and any of the legit conversations dealing with police reform(especially if they double down).

This situation can potentionally muddle/rollback any shred of good that could have come out of this stuff...
