An Atlanta man died after being shot by the police who found him asleep at a Wendy’s drive-through on Friday night, the authorities said.
The man, who was identified as Rayshard Brooks, 27, of Atlanta, had fallen asleep in his vehicle, causing other customers to drive around him, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
Mr. Brooks struggled with the police officers after he failed a sobriety test, the authorities said. As he was being arrested, he resisted and witnesses reported that Mr. Brooks grabbed and was in possession of a Taser that had been deployed by the police.
He was shot during the struggle, the bureau said, though a bystander’s video shared on social media showed the struggle between Mr. Brooks and officers, and appeared to show him running away when the police opened fire.
Mr. Brooks was taken to a hospital where he died after surgery. One officer was treated for an injury during the episode and was later released.
The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said it was conducting its own investigation into the shooting, separate from the bureau’s.
“Our thoughts and our sympathies are extended to the family of Rayshard Brooks as we must not forget that this investigation is centered upon a loss of life,” the district attorney, Paul L. Howard Jr., said in a statement.
State and local officials spoke out about the shooting.
The Rev. James Woodall, the state president of the N.A.A.C.P., said on Saturday of Mr. Brooks, “there was nothing that he did that was deserving of death.”
“Our overall message is that we are done dying,” the reverend said. “We are done waking up at 1 or 2 in the morning to another murder or yet another case of police brutality.”
Former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said on Twitter that the killing of Mr. Brooks “demands we severely restrict the use of deadly force.” She added, “sleeping in a drive-thru must not end in death.”

And Ahmaud Arbery got shot just because he was a black man jogging through a white man's neighborhood.

Trayvon Martin was shot just because he was a black teen going through a white (hispanic) neighborhood.

Michael Brown was shot just because he was a black teen walking in the street.

This was an open and shut case according to the video evidence. But then you had to go burn down the wendy's for ???

All those idiots calling for defunding and/or abolishing the police may not have anything to protest for if they all quit because the job isn't worth it, and it barely is to begin with.

I wonder if this isn't some conspiracy at times, given how easy it is to strike sparks everywhere. I also really despise the pandering to black people, as if it's somehow in their nature to steal and cause carnage. If you are for actual equality, that means we are all held to the same standards under the law. That means a drunk white guy who passes out in a drive thru and wrestles a taser from the cops, and then fires it at them should eat the same amount of lead as the dead black dude in the footage.

This shit is beyond ridiculous. Black people, and especially shitty black people, should not be put on a pedestal by simpering left wing woke morons who have brainwashed themselves and try to do the same to others.

The problem is twofold. First, it it has been driven into so many minds that studying and learning is a 'white' thing. Second, black people are held to a much lower standard of learning and conduct. It isn't a racial issue, but a social one.

And the franchise owner who spent thousands of dollars investing in building the store, buying the equipment, buying food supplies to feed hundreds of people daily, giving maybe a dozen people employment. Now all of his investment money is gone and he'll never reinvest in another business in the city again.

I'm thinking any business owner is not willing to set up in ANY black neighboorhood now, since you can't stop them from stealing, thats racist, you can't call the cops on them thats racist, you can't stop them burning down your store thats racist. Black Neighborhoods about to be nothing but bombed out buildings.
