What I think about cultural appropriation is that there's a spectrum of appropriateness. On one end there's watching anime and eating tacos, and on the other end there are the Washington Redskins.

Not all criticism of using foreign culture in an offensive way is unwarranted, but in a lot of cases it's wrapped around and crossed the line thrice.

Medicine is racist

Not only does that poster not understand what "racist" means, they're trying to redefine "violence" while they're at it.
well, they've already redefined rape to mean "that man looked at me"

You know what? I'm fine with them believing this. Hopefully it means they'll avoid going to the doctor and eventually be removed from the gene pool.
when push comes to shove, they'll go to the doctor, they'll get medicine.
sjws say they hate whites, but then touch themselves over white actors.
they say they hate science (because it's white), but they use computers.

I like having nice things.
Apparently, the comic was discontinued because a small number of people were offended (and none of them from Japan, as far as I know), and the creators themselves apparently have a certain kind of worldview, so they agreed with the those few critics. The message I got was that they wanted the comic to be 100% inoffensive to everyone, and if anyone was hurt, they had to pull the plug.

I found this article in Japanese that responded to the situation. I can't read much Japanese though, but apparently, the author has to explain some of the terms that certain kind of people on tumblr use, and I see the word for "political correctness" in the end. Google Translate just translates it into gibberish:

I believe @PacSol is from Japan so maybe (s)he can give us a summary of what the author is saying.

No, it's victimization of POCs who don't have naturally straight hair and are forced to conform to white society's ideals of attractiveness

Not totally sure if the following article should go here, seeing it deals with a parody rather than the real article, but anyway...

Listeners of the BBC World Service’s World Have Your Say programme were treated to a bizarre analysis of the Star Wars franchise today by a caller who claimed that “Dark Raider” was a “racial stereotype” who listened to rap music and “the only female character ends up in a gold space bikini chained to a horny space slug.”

Has anyone ever noticed that when it comes to female designs, if the design shows cleavage (like Power Girl's boob-window) or armor has "boob cups/plate" (armor (even full-covered) that has a breast-like shape), these guys start whining. They don't want any emphasis on femininity, the female form or even a little revealing. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of stupid, skimpy outfits and there are great full-covered ones (Mr. Marvel and Batgirl), but there's now a big push in the opposite direction. Just look how they made Matt Taylor cry and beg for forgiveness for his shirt and it just makes them angry that Frank Cho won't do the same.

I've noticed all these idiots flipping oout over Macklemore and Iggy Azalea for nothing else but them being successful white rappers. Yeah they try and hide behind saying it's cultural appropriation or whatever buzzword of the month they want to use, but it comes down to a couple of successful rappers (and really, of all the mainstream hip hop artists these days, how many aren't black? 3? 4?) being ostracized simply because of their skin color.

That's rather... (wait for it)
...racist!

I can't help picturing Stingy from Lazy Town when he says, "It's miiiinne", but more whiny when it comes to this.

Heh - good one.

Really though, I think the article was criticizing the situation, from what I could tell.

Also, I find it hilarious that it seems that some think that getting anything wrong about a culture, no matter how innocuous, is a horrible thing that ruins the culture for everyone.

I think at least most of us can agree that we as human beings can make mistakes, and that portraying a culture with no malicious insult intended isn't automatically harmful to most reasonable people, even if the portrayal happens to have inaccuracies.

Hell, even poking fun at a culture without any mal intent is sometimes enjoyed by some people in the target culture. For example, I find this portrayal of Americans by the Japanese to be pretty hilarious, even if it supposedly makes fun of part of my heritage:
How Japanese People See Americans*

*(language warning. Also, a comment by "DarkHypernova" there says that a society where anyone can joke about anyone and everyone has a laugh is true tolerance.)

Except that "boob armor" is actually a real thing. There are examples of female armor in museums and even modern bulletproof vests designed for female soldiers have extra space for a woman's assets. Imagine trying to squeeze anything bigger than an A cup into armor designed for a man's flat chest, that would hurt like hell.

Looking up the shirt thing, I can understand why people would be upset. At the very least it is an inappropriate thing to be wearing to a TV interview about an important scientific discovery. The intensity of the reaction was probably unwarranted though.

edit: yes, I understand my initial opinion wasn't all correct, calm down with your disagrees plz

It was made by a female friend of his who asked him to wear it to promote her design business.
