The National Guard isn't going to a do a damn thing to stop these riots. Commanders aren't going to risk their Soldiers being hurt or the mess of hurting a rioter. This isn't the 1960s, the Army is extremely risk averse now because any loss or blemish can kill a career. 500 guardsmen is for presence only. They'll stand back, look cool for cameras, and do absolutely nothing.

Not sure how if at all this plays in to it but Tim Walz, the Governor of MN, was a CSM in the MN National Guard until he was very recently elected.
