The reason that the companies now seem to hate their audiences is that they're increasingly staffed by people who absolutely hate their audience. It didn't start that way, mind, but it sure as shit is the case now - a side effect of the real cause of a lot of this shit, which is that none of them actually care about their products or the art behind them. They care about control, and the ability to propagandize and gatekeep over the medium. Nothing else about the medium of entertainment matters to them. The audience and profitability don't matter, ensuring theirs is the only voice that gets heard does.

This is also the reason that no matter how decisively wokeshit fails, they will continue to insist upon more of it.
It's like the relationship between prison inmates and the guards assigned the job of controlling them.

I'd say the other reason is for selling clout. Selling the drama. They know Papa Jack Dorsey encourages vapid discourse as long as it benefitted them and their corporate partnerships, bonus if it cleans out the "weak links" that were shadowed off for further observation. Not unlike lab rats during a social experiment. Why sell a quality product that's a riot when you can just start one to get the meek few who don't have a Twitter to sign up?

This time around it's more guaranteed than usual that the fan/critic opinion divide will be gigantic. They are probably only handing review copies out to their most loyal of shills.

Just finished reading through this whole thread. Even as somebody who never really liked the first game, it pains me to see another popularly revered franchise get Last Jedi'd so hard. Congratulations Druck, I hope this awful, bleak, divisive game was worth throwing away seven years and burning away all your credibility for.

And to think a literal strong female writer with credentials and decades of experience had to be ousted to make way for such an obvious charlatan. Pic related, it's my depiction of what Neil Druckmann and Amy Hennig's working relationship probably looked like.
