The military is hella gay. The old guard leather daddies and gay biker clubs were established by WWII vets and they birthed the S&M community. They ran those clubs much like the military, new boy toys were put through rigorous training and submit to older members. The military is like organized submissive training, you have to follow protocol, respect the hierarchy, and face punishment for stepping out of line. It’s not a mystery why an AGP would be molded from such an environment.
There are also pictures of men crossdressing for a “laugh” while deployed during WWII.

Ever heard of "prison gay"? Similar thing with the armed forces or IT. In an overwhelmingly single-gender environment, some people feel attracted to fulfill the social niches left "open". With how accepting of troonerism society is now, those people are sinking deeper and deeper into it.

militaries across the world have been running on foundations of strict hierarchy and authority ever since professional militaries were first established (before that point armies were raised on demand by conscripting random peasants in times of war) yet there never was anything like the modern day troon epidemic in the west

I remember this guy. He's a raging narc, and of course a "lesbian". He had a ton of threads on reddit and was posting in unrelated subs like /r/LoseIt (a weight loss sub) to show his transition. I don't know why he deleted everything, as he seemed really proud of how "hot" he was and loved getting thousands of upvotes and asspats.
Also, those photos are very flattering. There were others where you could see how he really looks like as a "woman" and, as expected, he didn't look like a woman at all. A shame really, if his goal was to score hot women, he would have done better being Chad than a fake Stacy.
Another thing I remember about him, he had a comment that got some hate. He said one of his reasons for trooning out was that he was jealous of the attention "hot" women got.
I tried to find an old thread that was really drama filled, but this guy has gone on a deleting spree, most of his content appears to be gone.

The only research they do is asking other troons (who of course answer with "don't let my problem deter you" or "my complications are the EXCEPTION, not the rule!") because they don't want actual information, or opinions, they subconsciously already have decided on it they just want validation/confirmation from the cult.

You do realize crossdressing men -- even straight men -- were a fairly common form of entertainment up to the early to mid 20th century, right? Even later, no one batted an eyelash to Monty Python crossdressing in their skits, because didn't make it their day-to-day outfits.
These fellows may have been gay (although the website you linked is rather suspect), but I don't think they'd troon out even if they were given the chance.

Not this extreme, no, but the basis was always there. The difference was it stayed in the military back then.
Not just the crossdressing that Studman references but when you think about, the homosexuality in armies in Ancient Times now makes a bit more sense if you ask me.
Prison gay, overrepressentation of LGBT in IT and modern armies, crossdressing and homosexuality in armies in history; there does seem to be a correlation between LGBT and male-dominated areas.
I don't want to go as far as to say "these men just turned gay" but being stuck with only men for years at a time without any interaction with the opposite sex does seem to make some men more open.

I have had to battle so many troons and lesbians about this. She is a heterosexual woman. Her POV proves it. I don’t care if IRL sometimes people think they are but really aren’t. This is a fictional character and she consists solely of what was on the page and if you watched it, the show, and there is not a single indication she is confused about her sexual orientation or her sex or gender. The entire reason she’s interesting is that she was every bit as girly and interested in music and pretty things as Sansa was until she found out the world didn’t see her that way and never would, so she basically went out and learned to do things that she could do and was good at, and pursued that. Brienne has been attracted to one hot guy after another forever. Just like Sansa. End of.

It does seem that way and it’s so strange to me. I can’t imagine wanting have to sex so much you’d have it with anyone, even unattractive people. I have never understood why masturbation isn’t preferable to uglies.

I really feel like people like this are simply being failed by our education system. Just taking this person aside for 5 minutes for a calm one-on-one about simple definitions of terms would probably clear things up for this person a *lot*.
- All girls have breasts and a vagina. Breasts can be surgically removed for certain purposes (i.e. mastectomy to treat breast cancer), but all girls are born with them and a vagina. There are no exceptions to this.
- You are not a lesbian trans girl who isn't attracted to women. You are a gay man who is attracted to effeminate men. This is actually just fine, and totally okay, and also far less complicated for you to learn to cope with.
- If you disagree with either of the above facts, it's because you're attention- or clout-seeking, not because you're genuinely confused. This can be corrected with therapy or mockery, your choice.

The military is naturally going to contain more gay men per capita than nearly any other career, if for no other reason but that if you're already attracted to men then being around men for extended periods of time is going to sound better to you than it would sound to someone who's attracted to women. That's just "more than average", though. The average itself was very low to begin with. The vast majority of men in most militaires are straight, and even historically those men who had homosexual relationships while in the army were still expected to and usually did take up wives and went whoring when the chance presented itself.
But that's besides the point. The original question that spawned this whole discussion was "why does the military seem to spawn so many troons?", and discussing how gay the army is, or how men a hundred years ago crossdressed is irrelevant to that. As we've seen in this here thread: most troons aren't gay. The "so-and-so character is trans!" crowd doesn't want to admit it either, but most MTF are men who are attracted to women and vice-versa for FTM. That preference doesn't change, and that's why we have this sad display of troons with foreheads like the Berlin Wall whining that no woman wants to ride their girldick.

In programming it's the autism and the lack of contact with real women. In the military, I wonder if high testosterone makes men more aggressive about pursuing their fetishes? It could also be some personality trait that makes them attracted to extreme gender stereotypes, so they flip-flop between macho man and slutty bimbo the way some people flip-flop between Nazi and communist.

Do stereotypical gender roles exist? Yes.
Should they been enforced? No, there is no need.
Do wanting to participate in an activity related to one gender makes you that gender? NOT REMOTELY.
We've gone all way back to 30 years ago when a woman who wanted to be an engineer was told "lol, lesbian". Is a noble woman who feels more comfortable being a knight and fighting for the things she believes in fact a man because of this? "Sure!".

(In context, this is funny because Brienne happens to be too tall and broad for a woman, so the reason she doesn't dress like the rest of young ladies is because she feels ridiculous in female clothes. So, it's also a bit of a coping for her and it's seen as a tragedy. Just like how is tragic these failed men are trying to become women as a cope too).
