I was thinking the same thing. Shouldn't they be ecstatic that he's taking this drug that they so earnestly believe will cause grievous harm to him, or hopefully even kill him?

Alien got sued by the makers of It! The Terror Beyond Space for plagiarism. It may have been influenced by The Thing From Another World, but the movie it ultimately got linked to (in a bad way) was Terror Beyond Space.
