Meet Gena Olson. 23 years old, from NYC. Loves riding her horses and singing, plays the ukulele. Unfortunately Gena has cystic fibrosis and worse, she cultures B. cepacia complex, the one that rots your lungs. Most clinics won't transplant patients with B. cepacia because of the high mortality rate post-tx, so Gena and her family had to move to Minneapolis. She got a successful transplant at U of M when she was under 18 but last year she started going into chronic rejection. Then she found out she's not a candidate for Trikafta, the new "miracle drug" that is helping so many CF patients see improved lung function and QOL. After some bad infections she ended up in the ICU waiting for another transplant. And guys, it's looking grim. Most of us like Gena. She’s funny and irreverent, but understandably her physical health has been doing a number on her mental health especially now that she’s in isolation because of Covid and can’t even see her parents. The guy next to her is her brother Rob. He's a doctor. Well obviously not when this pic was taken, it's old, but now he is. Sometimes he keeps Gena company for a while but with the pandemic even he can't visit anymore. He's a good guy, fun to talk to if not a little overprotective of Gena. But how could you not be protective of her? She's cute as a button! They had another sister named Joy but unfortunately she died from an infection after her own transplant when she was quite young.

Gina Fiorentino happens to have a more than twenty year history of faking cystic fibrosis on various forums and social media platforms – she has, in fact, pretended to be dying of CF for longer than her current persona has allegedly been alive. Now that is dedication. It also means Gina is not our current breed of instamunchies who puts a vest on her dog and calls herself disabled but an oldschool pro from the days before social media. This is how she was able to totally blindside most of us who are used to low-effort port-and-purge munchies. She had proof that she was telling the truth about nearly every claim she made and while all of us had our individual suspicions, no one wanted to be the one to start the conversation. It was only when she started throwing poopy pants temper tantrums every night and suicide baited that people started comparing notes and things that seemed easy to just ignore suddenly were so glaring.

To even attempt to keep this straight I will be using “Gena” when discussing the fictional character and “Gina” when talking about the sentient yeast infection who invented her. This is part one, a timeline of Gina’s internet activity dating back to innocent days of Netscape Navigator and irrational panic over Y2K bugs, and it brings us right up to May 2020 where Gina tells stupid lies on Reddit for no discernible reason. There will also be an appendix to this part because internet do be forever and one of the people Gina burned out is a wizard at resurrecting sites that have not been active since the Clinton administration. Part two introduces the character she portrayed, Gena, and her astronomically improbable ever-escalating bad luck. Part three is what happened when Gena made some people mad and we connected her to Gina and discovered that Gina Fiorentino is a walking advertisement of why social media was a mistake.

Gina Fiorentino was born on July 23, 1997 in Hennepin County, MN. She’s lived in and around Minneapolis/St. Paul for her entire life and has never moved from her parents’ house. Parents are Fred and Kathleen. Dad has two children from a previous marriage to a woman named Audrey Ann Hoglund, married 1969 and divorced by 1973. Half-sister Angie Weeks is still in the Minneapolis area. Half-brother Gregg lives in the LA area and his daughter Emmersyn is an actress in the show A Little Help with Carol Burnett amongst other roles. She was a true pioneer in the field of Munchausen by Internet. Her first CF claims (that we found) go way back to 1997 on a forum called ACMEPets, which was owned by PetSmart and has been shut down for over 20 years now, a victim of the dot com bubble. Gina was only 13 years old and claimed to have cystic fibrosis. Another frequent poster in this forum had a child with CF and it seems Gina was copying that kid's stories just a little too closely. She was caught and the site apparently shut down temporarily. Forum gossip says she would have been subject to criminal charges though no elaboration on what those charges might be, and further claimed she had gotten away with it because of her very young age – the novelty of forums at the time can’t have hurt her case and no one really knew faking sick online was going to become ‘a thing.’ One of the aforementioned autistic rabbitholes will fill in the details here because that is above my pay grade.

She went to Maple Grove Senior high school, got herself an AA in business from North Hennepin College, and started but did not complete a bachelors degree. By 2006 she was out of school and working at a series of banks. During this time she was apparently caught faking CF again two or three times and scrubbed the evidence. Also, lol at her "about" section simply saying "I'm awesome." Really underlines her whole failure to launch reality.

Sometime in 2006, a site called ‘Friends of Pepe’ was established to raise some funds for a young woman with CF who was awaiting a transplant. Her friends wanted to buy her a Wii so she had something to do (although I don’t know a hospital would let you hook up a game console to the TV. . .) They raised about $600 and did buy the wii for poor little Pepe. Pepe, of course, did not exist. She was a character Gina created, who had boyfriend (?) named Blake who was also, naturally, a figment of Gina’s imagination. The photos of Pepe were actually of one of Gina’s real friends who was unaware. Updates were made by someone named Paul Mooney who claimed to have CF and was post- transplant himself. Over the course of the blog he apparently posted a dramatic series of setbacks and declines in Pepe’s life. By summer, the blog was reaching 275,000 people and the supposedly honest look at transplants was used by real CF patients to decide whether or not to have a transplant. At the same time Gina was on another forum begging for money for Paul’s treatment. People were angry that Pepe was not real and that by all appearances Paul was either complicit or the mastermind using Gina to run scams to fund his lifestyle. It turned out Paul was legit, really had a transplant, was in a long-distance relationship with Gina, and Gina was posing as Blake and feeding him information to post about Pepe. This all unraveled through a blog called Down With the Trolls! Gina emailed apologizing and admitting she did not have CF and was the mastermind behind the Pepe hoax. She also claimed she had contacted Dr. Marc Feldman and had been referred to a psychiatrist to help with her obvious illness faking issue. Consensus is she did not and just wanted to get out of trouble. She reimbursed the funds and disappeared again. Paul Mooney died the next year from his real CF. If you have an hour or so to kill the blog is worth a read, especially the comments sections.

Yes, the munchies have so taken over my google analytics that I now get nothing but Tilite ads.

She seemingly had no job during this period but as much as I would love to laugh at her failures at life some more, it was the middle of the recession. When she got rehired, she took on a series of short term jobs: tech support, call center, temp jobs in manufacturing medical equipment (what a dream come true!), receptionist at a vet clinic (for one month lol), and warehouse staff. Seemed to be going through a temp placement agency.

For a few years she either didn’t scam people (sure) or didn’t get caught and publicly executed on the internet for a few years. From her remaining social media, she seems to have been content working with horses and establishing her own riding school although she is a terrible equestrian and has absolutely no business being on the delicate little horses she chooses.

She trains and competes under Patrick Ruppe and is into the hunter/jumper stuff. From about January until April, neuroticmare didn’t post but when she did she came to IFGW and claimed to have a cat from SJ’s hoarder girlfriend’s fake rescue and the foster totally told her not to send the adoption fee but to “take the cat and run.” If it weren’t already a /thathappened, Caylee’s rescue never operated. That was the fucking problem. She adopted a gross of cats, 144 fucking cats, and put them in her house and a separate facility, but not one left her after she got them and se never used fosters to try to home them because she had no intention of doing so. This is such a stupid and pointless lie. It really helps underline that Gina can never just stick to the truth.

So other than the equine abuse and refusing to admit she need a cob or draft because she is way too fucking fat and rough with her animals, Gina hasn't seemed that interesting in a few years. She hasn't been caught faking CF in a decade, She's got her own business doing something she loves. Of course, if this was the only funny thing about Gina she wouldn't be reporting all of us for suicidal ideation and anything else she can think of in a desperate bid to get us to stop.

As much as I hate to give her what she wants again, we must stop, because in order to explain Gena we have to go back a few years and it is gonna get real weird real fucking fast, and the cringe will pour freely from both the munchie and the hunter as you watch how that fat fuck was able to fool us for six months.

ACMEpet was a website, created by a pet shop of the same name, that hosted one of largest pet communities of the early internet. It was unique in that it had BBs (Bulletin Boards, aka Ye Olde Forums) for dogs, cats, exotic pets, and horses, all in one place, and it was the horse board where teen Gina did her shenanigans. Founded in 1995, sold to PetsMart in 1999, and ultimately closed in 2003 . It did not shut down due to Gina’s anticts, but it is very possible that the boards closed temporarily to clean it up

Regardless, there is no evidence that the person was lying, they might have known the boards were gone at some point, and that the website was gone at the moment of writing.

All we have now is some reminiscing from an obscure horse forum from 2009.

I remember the Jess you are talking about ... She pretended she had a brain tumor ... And an abusive husband. Somehow her neighbor told us the truth... I can't quite remember the connection. She send me some morning glory seeds and horse bells ... She seemed nice to me but must have gotten very bored and needed to create drama. There was also a kid named Gina who pretended she had CF and one of our main posters child had it. She got found out too. Ran into her on another Midwest board a few years later.

Gina is on another board I lurk at and she has been pretty straight - as in not making stuff up like she did on Acme - but lately there has been some drama where she'd been boarding her horses. From autistically scrubbing various BB boards, we discovered an article by the familiar dr. Marc Feldman in 2000. You see, Gina herself has brought him up in her correspondence with the callout blog in 2008, here and here.

One of the articles in said journal seemed very familiar, namely the first case report, a CF faker with a sister who posted in CF support forums and was found out thru poor spelling.

She said that she was in the terminal stages of CF and was at home waiting to die. She added that she was being cared for by her older sister, Amy, and that her dream was to die on the beach. Many CF patients and their families sent emotional messages back to her, sharing their own experiences and offering prayers. A few days later, Amy posted tragically that the girl, Barbara, had died, but that she had been able to transport her to the beach just in time. Group members were distressed by the news, but some did question the report that Barbara had been taken to a beach without having access to oxygen. They also noted that Barbara’s constant spelling error, which they had attributed to her being hypoxic and hypercapnic, were made by Amy as well. In response to questioning about these issues, the individual admitted that she had made up the entire story and taunted the group members for their gullibility. The lay moderator of the group alerted her Internet service provider, requiresting a suspension of Internet access to the person using the screen name attached to the posts. He noted that the explicit intent of the group was to provide emotional support and information to CF patients, and that they had been distracted from this goal by the anger and betrayal caused by the hoax.

However, there is no real evidence, this is all just speculation. We cannot know due to confidentiality laws either way. Just thought this was interesting.

"I was nauseous for a year before we figured out what I had (gastroparesis, tricky to diagnose, hard to treat if you live in the US, but not life-threatening) I am used to dealing with medical people since I've done it on a regular basis since I was born- so I pushed them until we came to a diagnosis and solution we could all live with. So many people aren't proactive enough, and they suffer. You are the customer, you pay them, make em do their jobs!

All said and done, I still dispise my GI doctor. He's an ass, I can't stand him. But he's the only one who will prescribe the med that makes me feel better (reglan, it's pretty contraversial on side effects long term, but that is my choice now isn't it?)"

I was about to go to bed last night and just put the rest up tomorrow. But Gina F. decided to come into IFGW chat on her r/neuroticmare handle to prove she's not Gena Olsen/try to get out of the fraud charges she would likely have for scamming people .

I'll upload the chat logs soon because her wild denials are hilarious and her mere presence brought out the tard in some of IFGW's finest residents. For now that's a perfect segue into part 2 of the "Who the Fuck is Gena" saga. Because there is a Gena that is not just a figment of Gina F.'s cholesterol-clogged imagination. Here's where shit gets real convoluted. So to simplify, basically forget we know Gina F. for this segment. We only know Gena Olson and she is in her 20s and she has cystic fibrosis. Except her name isn't Gena, it's Gina. So to review: Gina is not Gena who is not Gena but is Gina. But we are going to pretend we don't know about Gina, only Gena.

I am asking you to do this because this is how we were introduced to Gena Olson on Reddit. She was a semi-regular poster on IFGW and could be funny as all hell. She hung out in the chat a lot. She slowly started sharing more about her life as she got more comfortable with us. She was nervoys because she'd had some people use her pictures and videos to pass themselves off as CF patients. cough Gina cough. But once she realized we were normal people, she loosened up and we got to know her.

First, just the basics. Gena Olson was born January 1, 1997 in New York City. Her a mother is an equestrian and used to ride at a stable in Central Park called Claremont Academy and that's about all I can remember about her. But here's a video of her riding at Claremont before it closed (tbh i forget which one is her. I reuploaded the videos to my own youtube because her's is all private now because of catfishing). Her father did some normal white collar office-type job before he died, now her stepfather also does something normal. They lived in the Lower Manhattan area. She had an older sister named Joy. Both Joy and Gena were born with cystic fibrosis. They were homeschooled because they were so frequently ill and away from classes. Joy, unfortunately, lost her fight with CF when she was 14. That's all we need to know right now.

Gena's internet presence begins in 2013, or at least that's when she starts her Facebook. This seems to have been established mostly to keep in touch with her friends from League of Legends. She plays under the handle "Pix Me Up" and her name on Facebook reflects this with "LuLu" in parentheses under her real name. You won't find this facebook anymore because as I was writing this she deleted it. It loaded, I clicked a few photos. Suddenly it could not be loaded. Oh honey, that's so quaint! You're 72 hours too late. Anyway, attachment at the bottom is most of her public facebook.

Her facebook is mostly shitty inspirational "breathe" shit, League fanart, and memes. She posts horses. Some 9/11 and New York City stuff. All of this makes sense. Gena is who she says she is - a young New Yorker who rides horses and has CF. There's rarely captions on her posts though sometimes we are treated to some banter in the comments. She starts to get brave in 2014 and post photos of her and her dear pony Becks, who is still in New York. Hopefully she'll get to ride her soon! Gee, Gena's face sure has changed a lot since that photo of her with her brother. I'm sure it's nothing. Faces change shape like that all the time.


She got this adorable little black lab puppy. Wanted to name him Ziggs but the family didn't approve. I wish she posted more pics of him but for some weird reason we never see him again.

Almost all her personal photos are potato-quality horse shots, way below what the average camera phone was capable of in the years she was posting them, but I guess they're old photos. Actually, a lot of them look like screenshots from low quality videos on youtube. Maybe she spent all her money on horses and can't get a decent camera. I'm sure it's nothing.

Every once in a while we get one that is crystal clear but cropped all kinds of weird, almost like she doesn't want you to see her face clearly or something. Well you know how girls are about their looks: one zit and they're refusing to leave their rooms. I'm sure it's nothing.

In October 2018 Gena gets a reddit account, u/genabeana111. She talks about her catfishing issue.


And has had run ins with a famous internet faker. The CF community is apparently teeming with them.


She's deactivated her facebook because she's bitter that she doesn't qualify for Trikafta. She's going through rejection and couldn't stand watching all her CF friends make these massive improvements to their health while she got worse and worse just because she was born before them. Man that is just hard to fathom.


Gena hates the CF community because it's very OTT and toxic.


So she and Rob, her step-brother, are really close. It's nice that she had him in her life before she lost Joy. I mean, really tragic Joy didn't make it but at least she wasn't alone. I mean this story is totally /thathappened, and she repeated it in chat a few times and it was always like hah. . sure. Whatever. Gina changed the spelling of her name to Gena when her stepfather legally adopted her just because she thought it looked cooler. This the "Gena is Gina" joke at the start.


Gena took a while to integrate into the sub due to being surrounded by PC culture but she got there. Eventually.


By this time Gena had become a pretty regular member of our fucked up little sewing circle and we all more or less liked her. Around November, she caught a respiratory infection and had to go to the hospital. Now I don't know how many of y'all got that respiratory plague that went around pre-covid but it was tenacious. Gena's started as a cough and progressed to pneumonia. Ugh, poor kid. The story about the rabbit sounds ridiculous but she had photos. He really did sneak a small brown rabbit into her room.


Sure enough, when discussing our cringe tattoos later Gena showed this one off.


Poor kid had to be on ECMO before her transplant and is working herself into an anxious fit over the thought she might be put on it again. ECMO pumps your blood out, oxygenates it, and pumps it back in, only meant to be short term and patients tend to be sedated because pulling a line out means bleeding to death.


We tried to keep her occupied so she didn't get over-anxious. When she was having good days she'd be her old self, like when someone called her BiPAP her Bane mask and she came back with this.

So basically the Gena on Reddit had proof that what she claimed was happening was actually happening. No one ever demanded she prove herself or anything. It would be like, a bunch of us were all on steroids and showing off our sexy moon faces and she'd throw in a picture that clearly showed she was still in the hospital, still hooked up to machines.

She had to be intubated after a couple days on the bipap so they were kind of hard to look at sometimes.



And eventually she did end up on ECMO again. And that's more or less the situation with Gena - she's been in the hospital for months waiting on a transplant and now she's stuck on ECMO. She has had a couple of really nasty infections, she can't have visitors, she can't have anything from outside, she's heavily sedated most of the time. Thus she is no longer on reddit often at all.

And some fat bitch in Minnesota with a 20 year history of faking CF is using her name and story and pics from all over to pretend she too is in ICU with tubes in every part of her body. Classy. We assume Gina F found the real Gena on an equestrian forum and just started incorporating the real Gena's story into her latest character.

just so this doesn't end on a totally depressing note, here are some funny videos of Gena riding her horse Bob, who she had to sell as a compromise with her mom. Mom was afraid Bob would throw her off and hurt or kill her. If she got a calmer horse she could keep riding.

So the tl;dr; there is a Gi/ena. She really has CF. She really did get a transplant. She really does have a sister named Joy who died young from CF complications. But Fat Gina is apparently the one running the facebook, the one in discord, and the one behind this fearless rascal account which is also the name of Fat Gina's steam account.

But that's not the end because Fat Gina can never just run away with her tail between her enormous legs. Part three is where we really get to have fun figuring out Who The Fuck is Gena?

So here we are today and lo and behold, here is Lena who has leveled up her character in this game of MunchCraft and now has the ability to use toobz and toolz. In honor of her 34th birthday, she decided it was time to flex and show off the newest accessories by doing a pap stroll with them.

Look y'all, our sooper speshul girl has an IV pole. Amusingly, our girl's IV pole doesnt have wheels so she has to carry the dang thing ( so brave, insert strong arm emoji). She is also seen clutching an iced coffeish drink in the other hand in these pointless and pathetic pics.

i remember reading that book when i was young. That poor girl suffered so much. She had to eat that vile medicated applesauce and she dreaded the therapy to help clear her lungs of mucous or phlegm. Her father had to hold her upside down and beat on parts of her body to dislodge the mucous so she could cough it up.mucous

She was a beautiful little girl in a shitty situation. But this was many years ago in the 1070's when CF was the #1 genetic killer of children. There were not many successful long term treatment and no cure.

And now you have me wanting to read the book so I found it online for free at OpenLibrary where they have the book (Scanned paged of an actual book and you can see how the pages have aged and have small corners missing occasionally. or an audio version (kinda robotic voice but ok).

I am curious about these CF cases that are only diagnosed in young adults. Surely it is not that serious if it holds off that long. I once met a young man who was a friend of a coworker, I met him a few times. He was in his early 20s. I noticed he was super skinny but also had a prominent rib cage, which is a complication of CF ( referred to as pigeon breast in a book I read) . Having read many books about CF,I was familiar with the signs of CF. I finally asked someone if he had CF and they confirmed that he did but didnt talk about it much. He died about 3 years later.

And I'm back with part three of the “Who the Fuck is Gena?” saga. So in our last part we discover there are two Gi/enas. Gina Fiorentino, the horse abuser from Minnesota who does not have CF and is a complete psycho who has been going into a discord server for months to talk about how she’s dying and demand we stay up to comfort her. And Gena Olson who actually has CF and a dead sister. That girl was not on the discord at all and had no idea any of this was going on.

Gina Fiorentino had managed to get herself admin privileges in the discord, at that, because why wouldn’t we trust Gena? She’d been around since the start and we had endless proof she was who she said she was. Over time, Gina F. grew to not like that her constant petulant ‘i am the sickest feel bad for me!!!’ whining in discord did not always make every drop everything for her like it did at the start, partially because the group had grown but mostly because she had become a fucking nightmare no one wanted to talk to. She was rude to everyone, if you tried to be nice she went off on you, if you tried to empathize by sharing a story she was angry that you thought your situation even remotely compared to hers. She wanted nothing other than constant sympathy. Which is how this all fell apart, and how Gina Fiorentino got herself an international gang of witch hunters scouring the internet for every shred of her past and present so that we could totally destroy her.

The first part of this is text-heavy and mostly Discord screenshots so I’m going to spoiler it and add a tl;dr in case people don’t feel like reading and just wants to watch the blood bath.

First, we must explain how we found Gina Fiorentino and connected her to our Gena. The discord chats are redacted because it was supposed to be a reasonably secure place where people could discuss the timelines they were working on and vent life shit without having to worry about it being leaked. Thus, I personally don’t feel comfortable releasing them without heavily editing to protect the people who she duped for months. Several people on the discord really do have severe respiratory diseases and thought they were talking to someone who understood the feeling of drowning on dry land only to find out she only knows how it feels to drown in her own fat and pizza grease.

Gina Fiorentino (posing as Gena Olson) got used to getting all the attention and having people rush to defend her whenever anyone tried to call her on her shit behavior. She started to go after some of the people in discord she thought were getting more attention than her and threatened to leave if the other person got any support. Everyone got tired of it, but thought it was just an artifact of Gena – actual Gena – being under a lot of physical and mental stress, heavily medicated, and having lived a lifetime of being coddled and protected by her family /just not understanding that the world does not revolve around her. She had started to divide and conquer amongst mods with MITH, rainb0wracc00n, and, embarrassingly, me telling people to leave the dying girl alone and just ignore her drama and everyone else afraid to challenge us on it. She knew what she was doing. The three of us are all over 35 and had a maternal protection thing going for what we thought was a young girl who was dying a terrible death through no fault of her own. This particular outburst was over @Munchie safari saying one or two things about her personal life while dumping receipts on Kyle the dick-obsessed man munchie into the channel that was made for dumping and discussing receipts on who we were researching.


So rewind a few months. Starting on Reddit, we would offer Gena little things, like a netflix login. Kid’s stuck in the hospital and we’re already paying for the services. Might as well let her use them to entertain herself. She never asked, it was always something initiated by the other person: ‘do you have Hulu? There's a great new show you'd probably love, i'll send my login.’ We had also offered things like sending her a gift card so she could buy herself a new video game to pass the time. She always declined material gifts politely but firmly and several times let people know it was unwelcome. She felt guilty taking stuff from us and didn’t like being put in the position of saying no over and over. In February she did finally accept a gift card from some people when it became obvious she wasn’t getting out of the hospital anytime soon. And yes, I was one of the jackasses that offered her stuff - she was crazy over baby yoda when Mandalorian was released so I gave her my Disney+.


When she asked the sender to send it to Gina Fiorentino’s paypal because of a security issue, it seemed odd. But if you googled Gina Fiorentino, you saw she was an equestrian and riding teacher in Minnesota, where Gena lived, and had photos of Gena on her facebook going back for years, and a Gena Olson with a long-established account who had CF awareness shit, New York city photos, and horses was on her facebook friends list. Gena had also come into a live stream with her personal younow account which revealed her surname was Olson before quickly changing to her usual handle, TheUndieTaker and making a joke about ‘leave it to me to dox myself.’

So there we go. Our Gena is Gena Olson who knows this other Gina through horse-world and we have nothing to worry about because we do not yet know that Gena Olson’s facebook is run by Gina Fiorentino (and therefore had we messaged Gena Olson on facebook to confirm, the person we’d be talking to would be Gina Fiorentino). Discord Gena had even told us she reactivated her facebook for the first time in months and sent some screenshots from a CF group she was active in, so the fact that the Facebook existed was not surprising. Can't find the pic she sent at the time but here's one. The humor in that she's complaining about Sarah Smith who faked CF by staging and stealing photos is not lost.


Then when Discord Gena didn’t get her way one time and people told her to stop acting like a child, and this ensued. She first got bitchy and expected people to defend her. When that didn't happen, she told people she pulled out one of her ECMO lines and was going to bleed out.


So someone told Rob they were worried and called the hospital. Rob responded that Gena was in surgery and this threatened her transplant.


Gena then came back and said that because of the phone call she'd never get her new lungs, it was all our faults and she was going to die and come back to haunt us forever.


No one actually called the hospital, by the way. So an imaginary phone call got her taken off the transplant list. And when Gena’s admin permissions were revoked she was immediately out of surgery and shockingly lucid so she could beg for her permissions back. And all of this led to the initial round of“who the fuck is Gena?” that led us back to Gina Fiorentino, who was found to have attempted twice to purchase $20+ worth of Dominos near her house on one of the mods’ accounts and put a hold on her paypal. That’s right. This fat sack of shit pretended to be a dying girl so she could get shitty chain restaurant pizza. The charges were both declined so she didn’t even get her pizza. How embarrassing.


Meanwhile the suicide baiting had spilled over into Gena’s instagram, @calliethepaint, meaning Gina Fiorentino is also in control of that account.


A few hours later, genabeana111 and neuroticmare are in the Reddit chat talking to each other about horses as if they’ve never met and whining about how mean the mods were. Almost like Gina Fiorentino is worried we are on to her and wanted to make sure we knew she wasn’t Gena Olson and was still trying to divide us up.



And as we googled the details Gina Fiorentino dropped in chat we realized, there is no Gena Olson. At all. She doesn’t exist. All the Gena Olson accounts are Gina Fiorentino. That means the genabeana111 we talked to on Reddit who sent us all those photos and videos was also Gina Fiorentino. And now the question is who is in all those photos and videos and why does she have them?

Let’s review. There’s a woman named Gina Fiorentino pretending to be someone named Gena Olson who doesn’t actually exist. She’s faking CF to con people mostly for attention but also for video games and shitty chain store pizza and there’s a real CF patient out there who probably doesn’t know her photos and videos are being used by Gina Fiorentino to scam people. This was discovered because Gina Fiorentino didn't like that she was losing her audience and decided to go big or go home with a suicide saga. We're pretty sure had people fawned over her instead of telling her they didn't care, she'd have killed "Gena" and used "Rob's" account to lap up the outpouring of sympathy.

And it just gets weirder. Finding out that the Gena we spent all that time comforting and reassuring did not actually exist meant it was time for a good old fashioned witch hunt! Because she could not possibly have chosen a worse audience to pull this on than a group of munchausen-by-internet research nerds with 15 different skill sets living in five or six time zones who can have this investigation going around the clock until we have enough to make sure she never runs away from this one. For the past five days, at least a few people have been awake and working on this at all times until we finally found the real Gina.

Because there's a real real Gina.

So, back when people believed her Gena had a port infection and had to get it pulled out. In trying to find the real "Gena" we instead found the real port - on a page for newly-diagnosed cancer patients.


The first photo I showed of Gena and Rob was sent in chat by Rob as a “lol look at this dorky old pic of us”. Now we know Rob and Gena do not exist, so this is the first person we have to track down.


And here are the same people a few years later. Her name is Korie Ruppe and that’s her ex-boyfriend Alan. You might remember from part 1 that Gina Fiorentino operates Sleepy Horse out of a stable owned by Patrick Ruppe. Korie is his daughter.

Meanwhile on Reddit, theneuroticmare decide to pop in and do some damage control, claiming she was not Gena Olson. The CF faking was in her past. Gena Olson was in fact a scam run by the daughter of the owner of the stable she boards her horses at. Yeah, Gina Fiorentino decided to blame this on a girl named Korie who had the misfortune of living in the same are and having a shared hobby. She additionally claimed she and korie never met, Honest Injun!


Really? You never met her? Not one time?


Oh and Gena doesn't play the ukulele. Korie does.

Korie is healthy though. That photo with the IV seems to have been from a short-term childhood illness or something unless she has totally scrubbed all proof she is sick off the internet because of Gina. In either case, Korie is not the girl in the videos with Bob the crazy horse, so there is at least one other “Gena’ we need to find. Through autistic analysis of the Bob videos we find some logos: HITS Saugerties (aka HITS-on-the-Hudson), a horse arena in New York, and On Course Riding Academy in Lafayette, NJ (the logo is different now but there’s a few photos with the old logo floating around.)


On Course has photos on their facebook, where we find this girl who looks like the girl in the Bob videos and some of the photos "Gena" sent.


Her name is Mahlon Marie Clark, she is from New Jersey but now lives in Maine. She’s a marine biology student who hunts the invasive lionfish on the atlantic coast and sells jewelry made from their fins to raise funds for coral reef remediation, and she does have a horse named Bob. In fact, the exact Bob videos are on a youtube account named maymayrox and several of ‘Gena’s’ riding photos are on Mahlon’s facebook. Screenshops below show that "gena" reuploaded Mahlon's video years after Mahlon posted it. By the way Bob is not as crazy as these videos make him seem. These were some select clips from when she first got him and he turned into a great competitor. Gina Fiorentino does not appear to have any real connection to Mahlon Marie Clark. We do know Mahlon occasionally posted on a horse forum that Gina Fiorentino was active in and did post her youtube handle there years ago. Mahlon's horse Jack's show name was "Mr, Fahrenheit '91"


But why settle for that tenuous link when this brazen piece of shit repeatedly commented on Mahlon’s videos to compliment her riding before she stole them and reuploaded them to “Gena’s” youtube? Yep, alittleunraveled is Gina Fiorentino’s old youtube and she shamelessly skinwalked this Mahlon girl. Which is the real reason all of Gena’s videos were always unlisted, so the real owner could not find them, and also the real reason why they are all now unlisted on my account so that Gina didn’t see her views skyrocket while we watched and rewatched all her videos looking for clues. (Gina’s alittleunraveled youtube is also wiped clean. Again, adorable. We had it ripped and uploaded to a google drive before she even knew we were suspicious.) Becks the pony from Gena Olson’s facebook is also Mahlon’s old pony although I couldn't find the exact photos or videos.

So that’s two victims. But Mahlon also does not have CF, so that leaves us with the mystery of who the girl in the hospital was. One of the things about Gena’s story that never changed was the story about how her sister Joy had CF and she died from complications. She didn’t bring it up often, really, just sometimes in an oblique way. Talking about your sister saying something funny and she’d respond with ‘oh man, my sister was so funny. Look at this old video.’ The videos showed a girl with O2 cannula, a port, a raspy voice and cough, so obviously, she really has CF. And there’s a younger sister in the videos who looks like she could be the Gena we saw (who was really Korie who we know isn’t sick) at a younger age, who also rasps and coughs and has a PICC line and later a port. And looky here. A reddit post by a woman named Gina, a post-transplant CF patient who had a sister named Joy, who also died. This is the only post she made and her profile pic looks like it could be "our Gena" distorted through a filter. So we either found the real Gina or we found another time Gina Fiorentino conned people into thinking she had CF.


The google brings us this article about Joy Ventola of New Jersey who had a little sister named Gina, both with CF. Joy did indeed die, April 29, 2010. A few years later Gina had a successful transplant.


Googling Gina Ventola brings up an old Twitter where her profile pic is from around the tme Gina Fiorentino was stealing these pictures, which means she still looks like "our Gena".

From there we find Gina Ventola’s real youtube, which is where all of ‘Gena’s’ candid videos come from except a few that were pulled from her friend’s youtube and are also of Joy and Gena. The reason all of Gena’s videos and photos looked like they were 15 years old is because they were. And the sickest part is, many of the videos of Joy the real Gina only posted within the last year. It seems like she was sharing old videos of her sister and reminiscing with friends and this evil piece of shit stole them so she could get free pizza. Of course after the first post went up Gina Fiorentino deleted the stolen videos from her account but we had already discussed them so here, have some receipts to prove it!

I'm sure I don't have to keep going through to prove she lied about this, too, at this point. We can’t find most of the pics of the real Gina that Gina Fiorentino sent us over the months because Real Gina has deleted most of her social media. But the face is the same, the girl in these photos is definitely the real Gina who has real CF and the sister she’s with is the real Joy who really did die from CF. They have a few other healthy siblings. And they did ride horses.

They don’t have a brother named Rob but there is a Rob Olson in the Minneapolis area. He has two sons with CF and he runs or at least ran an annual benefit called the Breath Easy Music Festival to fund CF research.


Oh and the video of “Gena’s mom” riding horses in Central Park? Uploaded in 2013 by a guy named Tony and it’s of his wife. As you can see in the search bar, it took all of entering “claremont academy horse” to find that – right on the first page.


And the one last thing we could not find: “Gena” had a horse named Callie, and she had pics of her riding him on her insta and shared a video of clips of him set to the song “Renegades” by X Amabassadors, which came out in 2015. So we know this is a video made within the last five years but we cannot find this horse. We went through hashtags on instagram, googled every possible combination of terms, the horse people amongst us tried looking through hunter/jumper competitions. After many hours of swearing we found Callie only to realize the markings were ever so slightly off we were thought we would never find this needle in a paint-stack. (oh and on the b/w photo? That's the theme song from Five Feet Apart, the same song Sarah-Jean uses in her intros. "I'm not giving up no not yet. . . ")

But remember this distinct looking horse with the blue eye and pale face that Gena Olson posted on facebook a bunch of times?


We had found him already. His name is Duncan and he is owned by one of Mahlon’s friends, Melinda Nagy, who is unlisted on Facebook and almost all of her videos on Youtube are private. She also has a big warning about people stealing her videos and misrepresenting them. Hmm. We found her because Mahlon posted videos of her riding Duncan and named Melinda in the comments.

While still under the impression that Mahlon had sold Callie and we would only find him if we actually contacted her, we noticed that Gena Olson followed the pages of stables Mahlon rode and boarded at on her facebook, including Autumn Acres in Phillipsburg (oddly, where Dani Marina lives). Melinda also rides/has horses here because there's Duncan and . . .



Hi, Callie! His name is Boston, show name DudeofBoston. He’s owned by Melinda and here’s the exact event with the devil costume. Also, he’s apparently famous in NJ horse circles because of his smooth gaits and jumping. (We later found out that we had actually found Boston days before but since there was another paint named Ozzy - the one in the angel costume - that looked similar we dismissed it as being close but no cigar.)

And she rides at Bow Brickhill Stables in Hunterdon, NJ where, you guessed it, Melinda and Mahlon also appear. I can't find the exact photo but here's that horse and that jump in the same photo set.



There’s also all these other Genas and Robs we haven’t identified yet. She’s been doing this since Usenet so god knows if we’ll ever find these girls. Some were probably posted to myspace or CF forums that don’t even exist anymore.


You may notice a lot of these girls look nothing alike and be wondering why we didn't notice. The answer is we did, individually, and all either convinced ourselves it was because we aren't good at recognizing faces, because Gena's face was puffy from steroids, because they were taken all different points of her life and different hospitalizations, because she had makeup in some and not in others, etc etc.

And just as a delightful little anecdote, when the real Gina was finally found and we realized that Gina Fiorentino just outright stole this girl’s whole identity including her deceased sister, all of the people working on this went on a conference call at 4 am (Florida time) just so we all could scream in futile rage with someone who understood what we’ve just been through.

Yeah. We said this too. And then she made it even fucking worse. I do not have it in me to put up the last part tonight, but enjoy my PFP which is from one of her attempts to prove she's innocent.

I think of all the nights we talked to "this kid" while she told us she was having trouble breathing, terrified she'd end up back on ECMO, the trach hurt so bad, and I remember I was talking to a woman three years younger than me who looks like she was rode hard and put away wet, probably slurping down pizza and cumming in her pants with duper's delight.
