President Trump on Sunday repeatedly lashed out on Twitter at former President Obama, days after reports that Obama had expressed concern over the Justice Department's decision to drop the case against former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Trump spent much of his Mother's Day tweeting and retweeting various accounts, with many of the posts aimed at his predecessor. In one tweet he simply wrote "OBAMAGATE!" In another post, in which he retweeted a supporter's declaration that Obama was "the first Ex-President to ever speak against his successor," Trump wrote, "He got caught, OBAMAGATE!"

Earlier on Sunday, Trump retweeted conservative commentator Buck Sexton, who claimed that "the outgoing president"—an apparent reference to Obama—"used his last weeks in office to target incoming officials and sabotage the new administration." Trump in his retweet wrote, "The biggest political crime in American history, by far!" Sexton is a former employee of Hill.TV.

The president also retweeted multiple accounts that posted memes taking aim at Obama, including one account that posted a graphic of Obama over the slogan, "Watergate will look like a parking ticket."

Trump's Obama-related tweets were just some of the many comments he posted on Twitter Sunday, with others lashing out at figures including CNN's Brian Stelter and NBC's Chuck Todd.

His tweetstorm came after his administration's controversial move to drop charges against Flynn, who had been accused of lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia before Trump took office. The decision, led by Attorney General William Barr, was met with swift condemnation by Trump's critics.

Obama became ensnared in the unfolding drama after a private phone call between the former president and members of his administration were leaked to Yahoo News on Friday.

“The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed — about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn,” Obama reportedly said.

“And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk," he continued. "And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”

The White House did not immediately return a request for further comment.

I bet there are some meetings being held at Twitter HQ right now about how to solve this Blumpf problem. The media is unable to effectively hide/spin this or the Arbery case thanks to Twitter. Jack better watch his back lest he accidentally commit suicide.

You genuinely have no idea just how lawless his Presidency actually was, do you?

When you say "lawless" do you mean stupid lawless like using Air Force One to go on a date, calling a Baltimore cop "stupid", leaning on Ford for using a commercial where a Ford purchaser said he made his decision based on Ford not taking a bail-out, involving the feds in the George Zimmerman trial, stating he wished he could just subvert congress, spending 20 years attending a Black Liberation Theology church, or actual criminal actions like sanctioning US citizens without trial (on foreign soil), breaking the Logan Act (to Zhirinovsky "Once the elections are over, I'll have a lot more leeway with you"), gun-running (Op. Fast & Furious, although you could pin that one on Holder), various war crimes, or what?

Because either way you slice it his presidency was pretty fucking lawless, if you care about the rule of law.

There are so many examples that you literally can't fit them all into a single post on here. If you want a more comprehensive example, there's a woman who worked alongside Thomas Wictor to compile a list of the things that he and his administration did that comes in four parts (1, 2, 3, 4). It's something of an unusual-looking source, but they cite every example that they make. I'd set aside some time to read them all, though, because it's one Hell of a list and even then that isn't necessarily everything that they found, that's just some of the more egregious examples.

The notion that Obama had a "scandal-free" Presidency is absolutely absurd.

Look at all of the dates on the sources that they're citing. It's been there the entire time, people just refused to look at it.

Let’s not forget the stuff that was sealed, like just about everything about Obama’s personal life or academic career. Nigga literally ran as a blank slate candidate, everything associated with his life was locked down by court order.

I guess American politics is full of corruption, hypocrisy, bigotry, and favoritism.

Imagine Trump's corruption as a businessman being a drop in the bucket compared to ObamaGate. I guess that's what happens when media plays favorites instead of being objective.

Identity politics always falter over scummy conservatism.

All political and economic transactions are. There are no clean hands in politics or economics.
It's literally Negotiation 101 - Even a "win-win" case is born from the compromise of the entering parties.

The major problem with Obama is that he traded off the perception that he was of completely clean hands.
He was the good guy, the quiet guy, the balanced, trustworthy guy. He was none of those things. He just was exceptionally surreptitious. He ruled by silent decree with his quiet executive orders. He didn't engage in active public foreign policy - he did it behind the backs of the people. When it comes to foreign policy, the public has the right to know what the government is doing in their name, on foreign soil.
He didn't believe that.

Bush - the piece of establishment shit that he is - at least told people what the US was going to do. Even if it was based on bullshit. You had 9/11, he told you you were going to go and get Osama.
Even Bill Clinton, in all his corrupt, cigar fucking glory wasn't as politically maleficent as the duo of Obama and Hillary.

Obama sold a campaign of "Hope and Change". His version and the public's version of Hope and Change were very different. His hope was for sedition and divide and his change was from a country of freedom to a country hobbled by identity politics.
Blacks and immigrants thought that was going to be Hope and Change in their favor - gimmedats, open borders, easy ride.
White saviors thought it'd be the Hope and Change they crave - Hope that you'll bend to their will and change the way you see them through a campaign of pretend social justice.

Trump isn't coming into any of this with clean hands - he's an open book - you know of his dealings, how he operates, his personality. He's not hiding it behind any veneer. He is who he is, all be damned. That's why he resonated with people. He's going to make deals that slight someone else, but it's going to be in the favor of the people and that's why people liked him. No one - not you or anyone else, is conducting their lives as a benevolent charity. We all want the maximum we can get out of life. Trump broadcasted that, the people responded.
Like I've said before, I'd rather a person who tells you where you stand, than someone who smiles to your face, whilst stabbing you in the back. Besides, you're way beyond Republican vs Democrat simplistic politics.
You're up against a party who is the enemy of the country vs a party still hobbled by establishment loser mentality.
Both would sell you out to China in an instant if it meant they could line their pockets.

Like it or not, the only thing that's standing between you and being taken over by China, is an Orange man who does shady real estate deals, but knows how to con a con better than others. And he's the exact person you need to bring the misdeeds of Obama's administration to light.

Because Obama had an accountability-free Presidency.

The position which demands daily security briefs about what's going on in the country and the world.

Dude has the balls to say he didn't learn of shit until he saw it on the news.

Okay, let's take that at face value. He's either lying, or he wasn't steering the ship.

Truly an exemplar of leadership.

Because Obama had an accountability-free Presidency.

Yep. There was nobody willing to hold him responsible. For the GOP, you had neocons licking their wounds and you had the “rock ribbed conservatives” who would only go to bat for tax cuts, more defense contracts, and Israel. The”alt left” was pretty much deplatformed and then eventually subverted with idpol garbage.

You bet your ass there are! In the TDS thread, someone discovered the Trends sidebar was changed to What's Happening that appears on the Twitter phone app when you try to search for things. They're right! Yesterday I had to tweak my settings to see Obamagate in the Trends bar via a gear-shaped icon. Now I can't do that anymore because they changed the whole thing. They "silently upgraded" their site to protect Obama. A FORMER President who doesn't have the reach he used to anymore.

Sounds like something a publisher would do and not a free platform. 🚬

If they think any form of silencing or banning Trump will do them any good, they're kidding themselves. (Remember years ago some rogue Twitter employee banned Trump for ten minutes only for them to get fired and Trump not even noticing?) Jack, his cronies and his DNC/Silicon Valley overlords deserve this Catch 22 that will land them in water so hot all they can do is sit there and wonder: Where did it all go wrong?
