Well, I know she's probably supposed to be talking about Kylo Ren here, but way to Freudian Slip your TCC serial killer fangirl roots there, Stapphy. Also I love the complete (usual) lack of self-awareness about posting how you thirst over serial killers RIGHT before/after posting about how you worry people find you annoying/wierd/w/e.

I think y'all are right about her having no awareness of what's blatant oversharing, but whether that's autism or just being completely socially retarded is anyone's guess.
All for the better though, the more she posts every thought that goes through her head, the more content for us! Shame for everyone around her though.

tedious gardening heavy work I feel like wouldn't be good for her elderly parents to do by themselves. staph is clearly abled enough to carry a small/medium bag of soil/mulch, weeding is somewhat like reverse planting but with a bit more grit, staph should be able to do that.
also plant sperg.
these seeds dont grow well until late summer/ early fall as these seeds tend to germinate in cooler soil tempters (chickweed can be annual, but that's just the peak season to plant.) , marshmallow is somewhat easy to manage. chickweed however can overgrow quite easily, one seed pod can easily produce over 800 seeds. it can quickly become an invasive species and harmful to other plants and wildlife.
I don't really understand why any one would be cultivating chickweed in a bed in the first place, you can find it anywhere. Why waste space with it when you could grow something else that you can't find all over the lawn?

If you really want to keep some edible weeds around, small containers are a better idea so it doesn't take over everything, as weeds are wont to do.

exactly!! why didn't she find some when she goes foraging, they're commonly identifiable. if she really was a solar punk/garden witch or whatever the hell she is calling herself she would know basic shit like what plants can grow out of control so quickly, when to plant, what plants are causing considerable damage to native plants and species to the us, and not to cultivate so many. iirc in her etsy wishlist she had purple nettle and other common lawn weeds in her likes. these plants are somewhat native/introduced to her area, she just docent know shit and wants to spend mommy and daddies money.

Well, if it's a literal weed then it'll probably grow no matter how much she neglects it, and considering her parents had to prep the entire thing for her...

Also can't wait to see this go down like a lead balloon when it manages to make its way into every other planter box in the community garden because that's what weeds do.

Echolalia is kind of similar to a tic (in some cases, people with tic disorders like tourettes get echolalic tics), but there is some level of control yes. Depends how severe it is. With autism, echolalia is more of a stimming thing, but unfortunately as a non autist I have no idea what feelings stimming relieves or produces.

It's a sensory thing, as autistic people are usually either sensory seeking (they need more sensory input than normal, so their actions are to try and get that missing sensory stimuli) or sensory sensitive (they become overly stimulated easily with minimal input in comparison to most people). Echolalia is more of a sensory seeking behaviour, going by those definitions, but it could also be some kind of sensory regulation if someone is overstimulated.

My experience with it is a bit limited though, as most of the time I've seen echolalia it's in nonverbal autism, and echolalia is one of the few ways a person is able to communicate. Sometimes it will just be a flurry of random words they have heard, but it's got a meaning to them in that they associate it with the thing they want. Maybe a child at school wants to watch TV, so they say "TV at home??" Because they have been told they can't watch TV at school, TV is at home. They can't say "I want to watch TV", so they just repeat the thing they've heard the most. Some people with echolalia want you to also repeat back to them what they have said, as a kind of confirmation you've understood or just because they like the sound of whatever they're saying (more sensory than communication there). This is why you will get nonverbal autistic people who can only say a few words if anything, they're actually just repeating words because they can't really produce their own language.

I just figure for Steph, it's closer to just going BLING BLONG BLING BLONG.

Yes, Staph. Even people who DO qualify for an autism diagnosis usually figure out well before your age that nobody wants to hear about their weirdass obsession and, if you want to socialize, you need to talk about things that people you're talking to actually like and care about. Nobody likes you because it's not fun to talk to someone that only wants to talk about themselves and fandoms they aren't part of.

I cannot believe this needs to be explained to someone, in their 30s, who isn't even autistic. Unbefuckinglievable. :stress:

Pretty sure Staph was saying they were pulling chickweed and marshmallow from around the area, not planting it in the plot.

Now, if only they would realize that the reason people think they're annoying is not for their interests, but for their personality and the way they treat people. Staph reminds me of Straysheep a lot.
Has moments that are very close to self awareness, but then turn around and keep doing the same annoying, rude behavior to everyone around them and then continue the cycle of wondering why no one likes them.

Still can't believe Saph let their elderly and sickly parents do the hard work of gardening while they fucked off picking weeds.

Wait, I can believe that.

::Sighs, sits down on a backwards chair like a 'cool' teacher:: Staph, we aren't telling you your interests are stupid or annoying or dumb. We all have things we like or interests that aren't 'mainstream'. I myself am I huge true crime fan as well. However, there is a time and a place for everything. Fortunately or unfortunately, we have to conform to social norms. And what you do sometimes is not appropriate for the setting, even online. You overshare, you tell people things that you know they will use against you, then you cry when they do. That's the world, Staph. I'm sorry. All of us (yes, even the dreaded Kiwis) have gone through it. But we learn who we can & can't share certain aspects of our lives with. The entire world doesn't need to know everything. That's not anyone stifling you or your identity or whatever, that's just life. People in general do not broadcast their kinks or sexual fantasy, even in our pretty sex positive & pro-kink society. Why? Because for many of us adults, it isn't going to help us in the professional world and we don't want the whole world or family members to know those intimate details about ourselves. That's all. Sometimes, you overshare and you give us the ammunition. This entire thread is all of your own doing.

I think they share the same annoying and mopey personality traits and their behavior towards others is similar but Kayla at least seems to be able to uphold a corporeal relationship and keep jobs, even if it is just shitty minimum-wage ones. I think if Staph were to get her head out of her ass and do something about her lunacy (she never will) then she'd be more of a Kayla.

And as to the echolalia thing, if she's aware of it, she can learn to rein it in. I don't think it's legit 'echolalia'...she's conscious of it happening, she should be able to rein it in. But maybe I don't understand echolalia.

Late to the party and it's already been semi-addressed, but you can be conscious of echolalia and still not be able to control it.
I've known a few people (children, mostly) who fit that descriptor, in particular people with Tourettes or who do "rehearsal" echolalia, which is just what it sounds like, where the person practices what they're going to say semi-compulsively. For example, if I said, "What movie do you want to watch?" they might whisper "Paddington, Paddington, Paddington," then say, "Paddington!" in a normal voice. In this instance, the child is well aware he's doing it, but can't usually give a regular verbal answer without the tic/practice first. Specificity of example is, obviously, because it is drawn from life, lol. Most echolalia, though, is unaware or uncontrollable, and is usually in autistic children.

None of this to say that Steph is experiencing actual echolalia, especially as it sounds like it's confined to one phrase, which is just a habit. Some things are just habits, Yarrow.

Isn't a mask-wearer with a woman's name close enough to a troon&honest woman though?
