At this point it's entirely clear - Cuomo's goading Trump to force a Federal versus State fight. It was what Trump was trying to avoid from the start, and Cuomo doesn't care at all about the economic suicide as it'd give the Dems a nonzero chance of winning in November. That degenerate cumrag cares more about defeating trump than the lives of his constituents.
On a side note, what ties does Cuomo's family have to China? Tanking the financial center of the world and sowing division in the US has some massive benefits to Xinnie the Pooh.
Let him. A bugman hive collapsing in the US would be a good thing, on the whole.
The real question is, does Trump let the gibs run dry and Cuomo get thrown out on his ass after the free shit fairy skips town, or does Trump swoop in and make sure every gibs check in NYC has his name and face on it?
Remember the reaction from the dindus on twitter about the TrumpBux? Imagine Trump visiting NYC -- he's a NYC native -- and handing out food, water, and "personally authorizing federal disaster relief funds for welfare because of Cuomo's disastrous handling of the situation."

lol no ... that doesn't work. The correct response by an employee or manager who is given one of these cards after instructing a person to wear a mask or leave is "wear a mask here, or leave now and file your complaint." This has all the legal efficacy of those exceptional "I have autism, please don't punish me for being an asshole" cards.
You know what happens when you're actually exempt from normal rules & regulations for medical reasons? Your doctor puts it in writing and has it printed on a little card you can carry with you. This is how people with embedded (ferrous) metals in their bodies (pins, screws, rods, etc.) can bypass metal detectors to enter courtrooms, secured airport areas, etc. since they'll always set them off even if stripped completely naked.
The card doesn't spend half its space threatening legal action and refusing to explain anything. It "wastes" all its available space by clearly stating the nature of the condition and the exemptions that apply because of it.
Its remarkable (and a little scary) how many people on this thread thought that card was (or could possibly ever be) legitimate. People actually WANTED to be card carrying "please be patient, i have autism" types.
Which is why it'll never happen - I wouldn't be shocked if Cuomo's the VP in 2020. The MSM's been trying to paint him as an equal in stature to Trump after all. Besides, it'd give an incentive for people to vote for Biden besides ORANGEMANBAD.
Sorry to ask for being spoonfed but what's the timestamp for when Cuomo says the lockdowns should be/might be/are extended to September? I got someone who wants to know but I don't want to watch an entire hour of some guy smelling his own farts.
EDIT: I'm a sped who keeps skipping around the video trying to find it and god as always he sounds like a school teacher disciplining students, "it's your behavior that affects how fast we open things up". You're not the states mommy god damn it.
EDIT 2: Ok yeah after looking I can't find it for May 5ths conference. Unless this was stated yesterday or I don't understand politicsnese well enough to read inbetween the lines.
Three frontline health care workers have mysteriously fallen out of hospital windows in Russia over the past two weeks, heightening public attention to the working conditions for doctors and medical professionals amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Here's yet another doom & gloom fear porn channel with inconsistent updates on Coronavirus, but I've found myself strangely intrigued by it. It's mainly just stock footage with some old British guy narrating over top of it:

Probably late to this, but New China TV released a propaganda """""""cartoon"""""""" about how America ignored all of China's wise info https://youtu.be/Q5BZ09iNdvo
I like to listen to the radio while I work/shitpost. All the stations break for Covid-19 updates constantly now, even the classic rock station. I have thousands of MP3s, but part of the appeal is just flipping a switch on my Sangean tabletop radio when I go in the room and having background noise and local news/weather updates while I'm working on receivables spreadsheets and payroll and shit. It was bad enough with the ads, but I bet I'm only getting 7-8 actual songs an hour now. I've been relegated to a station owned by a local church on the AM dial that only plays old country music like Patsy Cline and Merle Haggard and shit and has senior citizens talking about growing chives and potatoes every hour with the weather report. The ads are all for funeral homes and seniors complexes, but at least there are very few of them.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has, as expected, vetoed the Republican-controlled legislature's bill on her emergency powers. The Republican majority is not veto-proof.
N.B. The linked article is wrong. An earlier draft of the bill would have limited the governor's initial emergency power to 14 days before requiring legislative approval. This reduction did not make it into the final bill, which would, however, have incorporated many of Governor Whitmer's executive orders into law, not including the stay-at-home order.
Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) has announced that Governor Whitmer's orders remain in effect, and local police should enforce them. Previously, she had stated she was leaving the matter to local discretion.
Article on the spread of coronavirus despite the shutdown order. TL;DR it is mostly spreading now in prisons, jails, nursing homes, and some large workplaces, mostly meat-packing plants and other agriculture.
Another highlight:
Mlive said:
"[H]ospitalizations are declining at faster pace than case numbers. As of May 4, Michigan hospitals had 1,948 in-patients with COVID-13, including 839 in critical-care units. That’s less than half of the 3,986 in-patients on April 12 -- 1,570 of whom were in ICU."
U.S. Representative Paul Mitchell (R-10th Michigan, basically the Thumb) has filed a lawsuit against Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services director Robert Gordon, in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
Rep. Mitchell is not running for re-election this year. All judges in the W.D. Mich were appointed under Republican presidents.
Rep. Mitchell is indeed invoking that section, among other arguments. His other causes of complaint include:
II: Violation of the Fourteenth Amendment's privileges or immunities clause (right to a republican government, right to health care)
III: Violation of the Fourteenth Amendment's due process clause, procedural (violated rights to intrastate travel, political association, political speech, to medical care, to engage in commerce, and deprivation of property interest).
IV: Violation of the Fourteenth Amendment's due process clause, substantial ("shocking the conscience" and "interfering with rights implicit in the concept of ordered liberty")
V: That the executive orders are "void for vagueness."
VI: Violation of separation of powers.
VII: Unlawful exercise of emergency powers act (the law authorizes states of emergency in cases of public safety, which is legally distinct from public health; the governor may issue orders for specific zones, not the whole state; orders must be reasonable and hers are not)
VIII: Unlawful exercise of emergency management act (Michigan as a whole does not have an "epidemic" even if some parts of it do; the Governor is supposed to specify the conditions for the end of the emergency and Governor Whitmer has not; the legislature has not renewed the emergency but she's issuing orders anyway)
IX: Unlawful exercise of public health code (Michigan as a whole does not have an "epidemic" even if some parts of it do).
SHUTDOWN SHOWDOWN
Shelter-in-place order and shutdown of everything non-essential from Tuesday March 24 to Monday April 13. Friday, May 1, Friday, May 15 May 1, maybe? (archive) (executive order saved on KF) . The Republican-controlled legislature has refused to extend Governor Whitmer's emergency authority. Governor Whitmer insists her emergency orders are all still in effect (Rundown on the laws).
State senate leader Mike Shirkey (R) is not recommending that people disobey Governor Whitmer's executive orders. He claims a lawsuit will be filed against the governor, and also is supporting a petition drive to change the law. Such a petition would require 340,047 signatures to be collected by May 27th. It would be veto-proof if approved by the legislature, and would go on the November ballot if denied by them (archive 1, archive 2, archive 3).
OTHER SHUTDOWNS Recap from NPR
Lawsuits against the shutdown order are multiplying (archive, archive). However, "all deadlines applicable to the commencement of all civil and probate actions and proceedings" are suspended until the end of the states of emergency and disaster. Executive order, and thus in limbo. (archive). Major protest at the State Capitol April 15 (A&N thread). Minor protest outside Governor's Mansion April 23 (archive). Protest at the State Capitol April 30 (A&N Thread).
The Big Three Auto manufacturers (Ford, GM, Chrysler) have closed all factories in the USA, putting well over 150,000 workers out of work. This figure does not include workers at supplier factories, which were also obliged to close. (archive) (archive) (archive). They are still making a small number of parts for emergency vehicles, and production of ventilators, etc. has begun (archive- GM's ventilators, April 17.) Ford is preparing to reopen (archive - April 26).
ECONOMY AND MISCELLANY
Over 1 million unemployment claims filed = 10% of the total population of the state, nearly 25% of the workforce (Archive - April 16).
Big Brother is watching, and he approves. Massive phone-tracking project reveals Michigan travel down by 45%, compared to 40% nation-wide (website) (news article archive).
Car crashes are down, fatal car crashes are down, and overall death is actually down. (archive - April 12)
FREE STUFF! Evictions suspended while the state of emergency lasts (archive) Executive order. May or may not still be valid. Water will be turned back on for all households while the crisis lasts (archive) Executive order. May or may not still be valid.
HEALTH CARE Hydroxychloroquine banned by governor's order (archive). Nevermind LOL! Now she's asking the federal government for it and claiming the ban was a mistake in the first place. (archive). Detroit-area hospitals are testing the drug's effectiveness as a preventative on first responders and health-care workers (archive). Elective surgeries are banned. Maybe? Who knows. If/when in effect, abortions were not included in the ban (thread).
Up-to-date count of available hospital beds, etc. in the State (the Detroit area is "Section 2, North and South.")(government website)
Detroit field hospital admits first 8 Corona patients. It will only be taking the less-serious cases. No one on ventilators.(archive - April 14)
Another field hospital in Detroit scaled back after drop in cases. Original plan was to open with 1,100 beds. Now they are only going to open with 250, planned to open April 20. (archive - April 11).
Beaumont Hospital, in Wayne, resuming normal operations after having been emptied to prepare for a Corona surge that has not yet arrived. (archive)
Our statistics are inaccurate, because deaths are being both overcounted and undercounted (archive).
LAW AND ORDER All localities given more discretion to release prisoners early (archive). It was an executive order. Who knows if it's still valid?
Lansing (the capitol) police are not physically responding to minor crimes such as larceny, property damage, and break-ins to unoccupied buildings, including garages. Other police are adopting similar policies (archive) (archive).
Detroit shootings up, but most other crime down (archive - April 30); Muskegon police report crime is up (archive). Breaking the lockdown is a misdemeanor, punishable by $1500 fines and 90 days jail time. (Still valid???) Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has stated there will not be a "ramp up" of police enforcement (archive). The attorney general has left it to local law enforcement to close businesses, as her hands are full with price-gougers and con artists (archive). She is also leaving enforcement of the stay-at-home order to local discretion until the courts weigh in on it (archive). She has stated Governor Whitmer's orders are valid and are to be enforced (archive).
The police cannot, at present, pull drivers over simply for being out during the shutdown (archive). Local police in the rural north and in Detroit suburbs have alike stated they will not be enforcing parts of the order (archive).
OFFICIAL DEATH TOLL
8 deaths were added today upon review. The surprisingly low death numbers may have something to do with yesterday's software problems, though the state website does not say so.
MDHHS said:
Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website.

The DNC is desperate but New York politicians don't do well on the national stage. Look at Rudy, being America's Mayor meant nothing when he tried to go for the nomination. Bloomberg did even worse, every skeleton in his closet came back to dog him last year.
Yes. This grey haired beauty, the mayor of Chicago who broke curfew to get what's left of her nappy hair done, claimed being mayor gives her a pass, stated:
"We will shut you down, we will cite you, and if we need to, we will arrest you and we will take you to jail," Lightfoot, a Democrat, said Saturday during a press conference. “Don’t make us treat you like a criminal, but if you act like a criminal and you violate the law and you refuse to do what is necessary to save lives in this city during a pandemic, we will take you to jail, period.”

The DNC might be banking on the MSM not focusing too much on the VP pick as the American public as a whole usually doesn't care who the VP is. It also helps that they keep pushing the Biden of the Obama years instead of the addled codger they have on stage - part of the lockdowns makes it a lot harder to justify debates, after all. I don't think the DNC planned the virus popping out, but they always capitalize on disasters and Wuflu is exactly what they were praying to Science™ for.
