Eh. My mother-in-law has said she thought boys were easier to raise than girls and my dad said he was glad he had two girls instead of boys. I think it's a common thing people find the opposite sex easier to raise when they're not the only parent, because the real personal stuff tends to fall on the other parent.

I know parents who really wanted a child of their same sex because they felt they would be better able to help them through the trials and tribulations of growing up. Some people want to be really close with their children and active in their lives, but feel like they can't do that as well if they are the opposite-sex parent.

That being said, if you have both parents raising the kid then there are plenty of other things you can bond with your children over while letting the same-sex parent handle the awkward puberty subjects. A particular dad I know has this weird self-imposed alienation from his two girls because he thinks he can't share his hobbies and interests with them, despite the fact that they absolutely fucking adore him and think anything dad does is cool.

I'm just putting in my two cents to say that gender is also indelibly linked to biology, because sex and gender are the same damn thing. The fact that society puts certain expectations on each sex/gender does not mean gender leaves its mooring in biology. As for fringe cases of intersex conditions, you would have to go case by case, but regardless, those are at most exceptions to the rule.

usually doesn't work well
dad spending a lot of time with daughter can work out great, but many dads are terrified of being called a pedo so they instinctively start keeping a certain distance from their daughters once they hit puberty
mom spending lots of time with son usually doesn't work out too well for him, that's how you end up turning him into a weak little momma's boy, and that's something you really do not want to do to your son (unless you are very cruel and sadistic)
