OooOo I can't wait to see how Labelle handles this sensitive topic that they have literally no experience with and have no idea what the people who ARE experiencing it are going through!
I bet it will be handled with tact and care and not at all just be monologues about blah blah blah government blah blah transphobia.
That said, is it sad that I kinda wanna see Tranny Granny to go with Grandpa Faggot? Not that she's trans, but because she's from a different generation she doesn't use "pc" language.
Also, here's a Canadian fun fact: You ARE allowed to go get your loved ones out of long-term care facilities BUT you can only do so on the grounds that you will provide them proper care.
Basically Canadian Dad of the year up there is saying "Well we coooould save Gram, but it would mean we'd have to empty her bed pan so it's looking like she's stuck there."
It’s such a bizarre message. It’s like Labelle is shaming people for actually making the most of the situation. I get that not everyone wants to learn Klingon or write a symphony, but how is panicking any more useful?
People like Labelle are just trying to get validation for their own laziness rather than actually trying to show solidarity to anyone. They do this all the time and try to hide it behind the pathetic guise of enlightened thinking.
If you want some of the funniest examples of this behavior check out the "healthy at any size" crowd where you can watch people pat each other on the back for not giving in to "diet culture" by eating an entire extra large pizza by themselves in one sitting.
Thanks to the internet you can justify any of your worst behaviors this way AND be patted on the back for doing so!
OK now I get it, but I do not recall that slogan in the early days of the gay rights movement.
Maybe it's TMI, but I am old and gay. And was a serious activist in the 1970s.
Yeah no lie I didn't hear it until recently either.
I kind of like the sentiment around it, with gays around the world kind of saying to those stuck in countries where their sexuality is considered a crime that it's better to be considered a criminal then in the closet, and that there is a community that supports them even if they're branded one buuuuuuuuuut I also realize that the people who are yelling this slogan the loudest are also the ones that would only give back to the cause as long as it won them internet points and required very little actual work or money.
Remember guys; never be happy, because someone somewhere else is sad.
