It's a very common Mary Sue trope - 'see, my perfect character has flaws, she's clumsy and falls down a lot!' IIRC it's the one actual characteristic that Bella from Twilight has. It also gives them lots of chances to be suffering from physical ailments, with either, 'oh lol I just bumped my head I'm such a ditz #braindamage' vs. 'i just banged my head for the third time today #smh #todaycangofuckitself #goingbacktobed'.

So yes, like all their other new disabilities like not being able to open jars and being cold all the time, it's learned behaviour from stereotypes and the media they consume that has no bearing on actually being a woman.

Dizziness is a possible side effect of estrogen, so I get the feeling they're interpreting actual medical problems as validation that they're becoming the clumsy anime girls of their dreams.
