This sounds right. Autism and ASD people aren't geniuses or idiots; they vary like other people. The way they see the world differently can be both a benefit and a cost mostly independent of their IQ.

We've seen his schoolwork like history papers, which is tough to make direct interpretations from, especially with the 'tism. However, we do have one more measure: reports from The Game Place on how he regularly lost Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh games to children. Those games are dependent on luck and mental ability (and money, but he could easily be dumping in more money than the kids) and he usually lost.

That paper was bad. Bad, bad, bad. If anyone else had written it I would have assumed they were being purposefully obtuse. But this is Chris.

Chris has autism that has been left untreated, thus he knows about it but knows nothing about how to deal with it.

Chris has inherited all of Barb's bullshit, thus truly fucking his world view up. He's smarter and more famous than everybody else and thus will win in the end.Plus his ego is like Godzilla: nigh unstoppable. He really is famous and in the right at all times always.

Chris is a dumbass. He's simply not smart. As Skyraider mentioned upthread, he's simply pretty low IQ.

Chris has zero experience outside his room. Even a dumbass can recognize certain things. Chris has absorbed all of his knowledge from shit TV and other shit media. So he thinks that's how people act. They don't.

The entire four part "date" (outside of the 14BLC and Rental audios) demonstrate that Chris has the trappings of mental illness. He's wrapped up in a series of paranoid conspiracy theories, many introduced by Barb. His mother is a major influence in the amount of absolute insanity. As he gets older the worse it will get. More paranoia. More conspiracy. More ego. Even when he's homeless squatting at whatever Charlotteville's skid row is he will still keep harping about how he's the most famous artist ever or whatever and how "da twolls" forced him to be there. He's hopeless at this stage without major, major intervention that simply will not happen. As long as the tugboat keeps floating and Barb keeps kicking (she'll be around for a while, no worries) Chris will continue to devolve.

This is seriously premium content and demonstrates just how far he's gone. And a hint of how far we have to go.

His paper on WW2 read like something a 6th grader would write both in grammar and over all argument structure, seriously if any other grade 12 student wrote that they'd have got an F but somehow Chrissy got a passing grade.

I think this is part of what causes his low IQ, he's never been forced to actually think things through. The brain is like any other body part, it needs to be used to grow.

I had a 'Chris' in my 12th grade geography class, and he got a passing grade on his presentation on Korea. Most of his report was about how World War 2 ended because the US nuked Korea. Granted, that's still a little more accurate than Cole's account of the war.
