Alex Is Shook, in a blink-and-you-missed-it moment, uploaded a reaction to Chantal's latest (entitled "Chantal is a pig", I believe) and quickly deleted it when people began commenting on his slurred speech and asked if he was ok.
Unfortunately it was gone before I could capture any of it, but there are a few comments addressing it on his twitter.
When checking his twitter, I also noticed that he seemed to be a bit peeved about a video someone called Belinda Carroll made that apparently poked fun at his Xanax issues.
I'm not familiar with her videos, but Alex isn't wrong in this instance, it's not offensive, but it is painfully unfunny.
For anyone curious:

How come when Amber eats twelve pounds of Kentucky Fried Reece's everyone is all HAHAH LOOK AT THE PIGGY! But every time Alex pounds some Xanax with a cocaine chaser and slurs out a new video, everyone is all OMG HONEY R U OKAY PLZ BE OKAY : (
He should be no less an object of ridicule than Amber and company. He's as absurd as they are.
I just want some moral consistency from the internet, okay? I'm all confused over which dumb addicts I can mock and which I can't.
And once again, The Farms is the vanguard by being the only equal opportunity mocking machine on the internet.
PS. Belinda, you're not funny. You're the antithesis of funny. You're so not funny not even light can escape it.

Before I answer with my dumb take in full, I want to first say that I absolutely agree with you - humour is humour no matter what way you slice it, and imho (especially with DCMG's hypocrisy and ass-showing making free speech a popular topic around here recently) I tend to strongly lean into the "either everything is okay, or nothing is" camp. Now....to get to my observations, theory, musings etc etc as to why the vast, VAST majority outside us (Twitter, Youtube, what have you) shit on Amber and coddle Alex? I'm thinking its a combination of classic societal views re: addictions, with willfully chosing to constantly overeat and gorge yourself to 600lbs being seen as gluttonous, disgusting, and selfish (all true tbh) and drug addictions coming along with quite a bit more sympathy and a desire to protect/comfort attached. A fatty can put the fork or serving ladle down any time, a drug addict not quite so much.
On top of that, there's Amber's infamous reputation as a liar, manipulator, cunt, gaslighter, sneak, thief, scammer, overall nasty person. Alex doesn't have such a negative public image, so people will be more sympathetic to him than the Youtuber who made herself famous as a liar and fat bitch.

Probably because they’re worried about him fucking dying from an OD? I agree that it’s either all or nothing. But you seriously can’t compare a fatty eating too much cheese and someone with a serious drug addiction that impairs thinking and reason. I think that’s pretty obvious

No, I absolutely can. Drug and alcohol addicts are destructive, scorched earth monsters that take out everyone in their path. They cause untolled misery to anyone in their orbits and they can and often do it without enablers. When addicts wake up from whatever they were on, they absolutely DO have their thinking and reason about them. But omg Alex, please be okay : (

On second thought, you're right. They aren't comparable. Drug addicts are far worse. Have you ever watched the show Intervention? Give that a view after M600PL if you've never been blessed with an irredeemable addict in your life, and tell me why for one of them, it's open season, but for the other, they're some fragile, sacred creature who must granted the utmost reverence at all times.

self-destructive behaviour doesn't occur on different tiers of importance. ALR's food issues also affect her judgment and impulse control. i'm not saying this in defense of ALRor against alex. it's just that people are focusing entirely too much on what the person ingests (whether it be food or drugs) and not the reasons for it, which are really fucking similar. the only differences are cues and kinds of risk. hell even tolerance works the same if you consider the volume of food needed for a binge over time.

so no, it doesn't actually make sense to be sympathetic towards xanax addiction but not towards eating disorders. we also have enough examples to see that haydur's like alex have the capacity to be just as shitty, lying, manipulative, etc. and the only reason they don't have that reputation is because they point out ALR's. the real reason, and this is true for most of the haters not just the audience, is that most of them have issues with food/weightloss as well. that's the real reason.

Addiction is addiction but the difference, at least for me, is that Alex has actually been to rehab because he knows he has a problem so it's more sympathetic. Amber has an addiction, does fuck all about it and then wants to talk shit to us about how she knows "what's right for her" and that we're just being hateful. Some of us actually hate Amber in the Farms but I'm sure a good population of us just get frustrated with her shit eating attitude about valid criticisms and her invalid sense of superiority like we all don't have eyes or common sense.

How does Alex flunking rehab make him more sympathetic? Don't hold me to it, and correct me if I'm mistaken, but my memory is telling me that Alex's rehab stint was not at all voluntary and he only played along because his parents forced it.
Amber's an enormous liar, but there is at least some evidence she's been trying to treat her addiction (and failing like Alex) by occasionally seeing a therapy fairy and getting meds.
Alex is sitting in his parent's McMansion snorting rails.

I don't know whether Alex's stay in rehab was forced but if it was, I understand more where you're coming from. "Some evidence" with Amber? Mmm, I'm still not totally convinced. Hopefully she's actually seeing a therapist but I hope she's not on meds because she'll kill herself (faster) going on and off antidepressants and anxiety meds at the regularity and irresponsible way she claims.

part of ALR's whole entire mythos is her amount of attempts. yes, she does the same thing on repeat. yes, you could argue that it's barely an attempt when she tries something that has failed multiple times before. yes, she's a huge smug cunt when she loses 4 ounces and deflects all criticism. but unfortunately that's all part of her addiction. so what you're saying is she's not the right kind of addict, or she's not addicted enough for you.
rehab programs have dismal success rates. a lot of people don't know that, and even more people believe that rehab or other programs are the best option, simply because that's all the information floating around. rehab, at best, is a "better than nothing" option. in the USA, on average:
- Inpatient treatment: 73% of addicts complete treatment and 21% remain sober after five years.
- Residential treatment: 51% of addicts complete treatment and 21% remain sober after five years.
- Detox costs: 33% of addicts complete treatment and 17% remain sober after five years.
- Outpatient drug-free treatments: 43% of addicts complete treatment and 18% remain sober after five years.
common sense includes being able to understand that everything you see on social media and youtube, is curated by people who present it. you have absolutely no idea how much effort alex is putting in to his recovery.

I think it's hilarious how every single person who seems to make commentary videos on Amber has no leg to stand on at this point. They all want to go after her for being a train wreck not realizing they themselves are train wrecks. I can't complain because I find it so entertaining to watch them pick Amber apart then cry when other people on the internet give them the same treatment. Honestly I think the haydur community on YouTube has become more fun to keep track of than Amber, her content has been boring lately in comparison to these cows.

Alex has been known to get in people's lives with his trolling, stealing, getting arrested, etc. He's far worse then Amber. He is a piece of shit. At least Amber has never been in jail.
