This highlights a systematic problem with furry conventions. Furry conventions are highly infamous for being run on razor thin margins with no money left aside for when shit hits the fan. RMFC and CaliFur are good examples, both cons ran into financial issues after security costs had to be increased. Before this they were already mismanaged, CaliFur was burning through money and RMFC was run by SovCit aligned retards. But having to pay more for security to deal with edgy furries online threatening to fight IRL (RMFC) or allegedly attack the convention (CaliFur) put them into the red.

In this case there's nobody to point the finger at as non-furry cons left and right are being canceled. The coronavirus outbreak is spreading across the USA and North America and everything from NBA games to corporate events have been canceled. It's causing widespread economic damage as seen by the stock market taking a massive hit. States across America are canceling school for several weeks to try to slow the spread of it.

FE is deciding to take a risky move. They're living in the delusional few weeks ago mindset that it's just the flu and that it won't happen to them, so they're deciding to keep it going anyway. Furries are going to show up anyway, vendors need to make money and lonely furries need to socialize for a few days before they get super con crud 14 days later. Some furries who are smarter are going to cancel, but there are plenty who don't care about the risks or think it's only going to affect those filthy boomers anyhow.

Pretty much any of the large, well-run ones can eat a cancelled year - this is good planning. But FE is not big enough to do that. Pretty much none of what used to be called regionals are. AC, FC, MFF could tank a cancellation... These guys not so much.

Smaller cons don't make too much money and are run on a "labor of love" basis. When there's no drama involved it might or might not work, because any unexpected expenses are going to dent the con. I posted a writeup from the founder of another Canadian con (WhatTheFur) a while back on why a con crashed and burnt but the tl;dr is both dealing with local furries and a rival con burnt him out. Money wise though the issue was the con was run at a loss and only done because he felt like his area needed a con. When he realized how shitty the furry scene was he backed out.

Also anyone else confused by the Telegram screenshot post layout? Doesn't that make all the screenshots by Nightshade themself?

Why would they screenshot messages to them that accuse them of all this and how would they then end up in the hands of someone that is now putting them on blast with them?

Also Largo posts 1 time before and suddenly tons of activity in furry around the post?

Yeah, first chat is from Gama, talking with Nightshade. Looks like someone named "Connor" confronted Nightshade on Telegram, then Nightshade showed it to Gama as part of trying to get the kid to go along with the lie that Nightshade didn't know. Gama didn't go along with it and shared that screenshot further. Kid calls him "midnighthusky6969", but I assume that's just the former telegram handle or something since it's too long to be a Twitter handle.
