E3 2020 has been canceled

I watch E3 to play drinking games with friends. Take a shot every time they say "innovative." Take a shot every time the host is Scandinavian. I could give less of a shit about the games. I just want to get pissed.
 
Yeah I'm one of the people who mostly just watched it with friends to make fun of the awkward presentations and such. For the actual game parts I mostly care about the nintendo content but they can just do the direct whenever. So no big loss.
 
The coronavirus is an excuse to kill it without looking bad. They have nothing to show. I bet they will sweep the whole thing under the rug before 2021 and people will completely stop giving a fuck about E3 by then.
 
Honestly I think the coronavirus is probably more of a scape goat for the cancellation than the big reason for it. They'll claim otherwise but considering many other events are going on right now without issue despite the outbreak I doubt they'd make that decision now if that was the only issue. In reality with the high profile drop outs recently E3 seems to be fucked behind the scenes right now. I'm guessing the reception of the E3 2020 plans and the doxxing has caused a huge management shake up which is probably screwed their chances of hitting the deadline, so they're using the virus to save face, at least that's what the conspiracy side of me's thinking.

With that said I agree with everyone else that this isn't that big of a blow honestly, all the companies will do their own Direct style thing that will be just E3 but shorter and with less cringe. E3 will probably comeback next year but with only a handful of companies due to how much more cost effective it is to dump them, maybe limp on for another year if they're lucky, than it will shut down for good most likely.
 
All it basically was was glorified commercials, it had it's moments in the past even modern E3 has some good stuff announced every now and then. But it's mostly just something corporate and console fanboys over obsess about. It's time was prob about over anyways. At least I will never witness one of EAs awful shows again.
 
Was mildly looking forward to watching E3's corpse shamble about and try to look relevant with those Instagram and Twitch thots. But probably best to just old yeller it while they still can
 
Sony literally did not want to do any live events after naughty dog blew millions on a fake ass church to show a lesbian kiss that people hated.

So Diversity+China has finally fucking killed E3. I wonder if this is a sign that all this normie bullshit is on it's way out? We need Gearbox to go Bankrupt and for Activision to fracture and kill Blizzard in the process.
 
I won't miss it too much because every game company will just stream announcements the day of on YT anyway

And nothing of value was lost. It's just corporate and journalist masturbation where they show either CG trailers or vertical slices which will end up being downgraded 9/10 times.
 
It's fitting that the 10 year anniversary of the infamous Konami presentation would be the first year E3's cancelled.

I'll miss all that shameless goofy bullshit. There's no way they can get me to watch loads and loads of game trailers otherwise, on some serious, tightly edited, prerecorded video without the slightest chance of something ridiculous happening.
