It wasn't a big surprise, academics aren't fatally infected, but it's infected more than enough that it shouldn't be a surprise.

The fact that those "rigorous academics" don't act to counter the crazies is what made the crazies so confident in thinking they could tackle Peterson.

Peterson is a pillhead who gave himself brain damage by going to a hospital in Russia. Who's the crazy in this situation?

There's a lot of bullshitters in academia but there are few who've managed to do what Peterson did and sell themselves as a self-help guru... so it's him, really.
He could tell others to clean their rooms, but in the end, he couldn't clean his own. How poetic.
A lot of these academic types, in my experience, see themselves above others, and think themselves immune to the ills of the common folk. An old professor of mine used to drink a whole bottle of whatever every workday - guess what, arseface, downing a bottle of JW Green or Hennessy VSOP doesn't make you any better than the village drunkard.

Turns out the Jordan / Kermit comparisons were just foreshadowing them bith being puppets. Make him dance, Mikhaila!

Which comes first- Jordan's disastrous reentry into the public eye with a slurred, incoherent "I'm better" video, or Mikhaila's Onlyfans launching?

It's possible for both Peterson to be crazy and for people that say there is no such thing as biological sex to be crazy. That was my point. And by comparison, he flew under the radar for a long while.

So if he's that insecure, why should I listen to him on what to do with my life?
Because he's not superhuman. You have to be a special kind of person to endure perpetual public hate for years on end without getting burned out or going nuts. Imagine if every tiny little thing you said was inspected and torn apart by countless people out for your blood. Shit, that's why KF has such a strong mantra of maintaining anonymity.

Besides, he'd be a hell of a lot less relatable if he really were ironclad enough to not be bothered by the nonstop torrential hate, and his fanbase is full of insecure, clueless people who are looking for some sort of guide that's not countless faceless blue checkmarks and cat ladies telling them to eat bugs and mutilate their bodies.

So anyone criticizing his terrible interpretation of Pinocchio or his idiotic ideas on the behavior of lobsters is "out for his blood"? What the fuck? He may not be superhuman but he should, at the very least, not be a fucking junkie. You can be criticized nonstop, from every side, and not get addicted to benzos and wind up in a coma in Russia.

Also, if his fanbase is full of insecure, clueless people, that's not really a good thing.

Both of the core statements "He's another loony, just as bad as his ideological opponents, so he should be scrutinized just as much" and "He's given some kind of direction or help to some people in need of help" can be true. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed is the king.

Oh, I'm not talking about people like you and me who know the ancient forbidden wizardry of nuance and not acting like a bipolar retard when someone says something we don't like. I'm talking about the idiots in the press and elsewhere that talk about him like he's some kind of Nazi sympathizer. That shit gets to you over time. Anyone who's had a run-in with those freaks on a platform where your real name and/or face are visible, or even within your own fucking family, can attest to it being incredibly stressful. There were a ton of stories across a few pages in the Trump Derangement Syndrome thread recently of people telling stories of friends and families betraying them over Trump, and it's a pretty heartbreaking thing to go through.

I bring that up because it's the closest allegory I can relate to, going through it myself. You and I can agree that his Pinocchio interpretation was just flat out bizarre, but the loony crew I'm talking about probably hasn't listened to anything he's said past his criticism of gender politics in universities that kicked off his fame from the start. They don't want discussion, they want their dissidents to die.

Yes, but if he's another loony as bad as his ideological opponents, why should I view the fact he's giving direction to these people positively?

You shouldn't, you're entitled to your opinion. I'd risk saying you're not his target audience, anyway.

Jordan B. Kermit is was another intellectual who was probably on board with all this shit until he hit his breaking point, that being Canadian Bill C-16, thus he became another token "lefty turned righty", just like Bret Weinstein. Correct me if I'm messing up the timeline. Anyway, he was embraced, appropriated, and held up high on a pedestal, another icon of free speech and whatever. As such, he was given a much larger platform than he deserved or could handle, and was out of his depth pretty soon.

All of this doesn't justify the regressive left applauding his current state, though. He still deserves some dignity as a person. As a thinker? Probably not so much.

He was never a "lefty turned righty." He was always the way he was before he went into a coma. He was debating atheists back in the day.

Admittedly, I wouldn't wish what he went through on anyone, but, like I said, there are many reasons that he's a vegetable and a big part of it is that he made too many wrong decisions. He may have been put on a pedestal, but he never seemed like he hated the spotlight.

I'm sorry, but Peterson hardly got a bad lot with the demonisation from the left. He definitely is their boogieman, but as far as critics of the left go, Peterson has a lot of acceptance in the mainstream. Look at what happens when he goes on panel shows, he gets pretty big applause because he's actively contradicting an ideology people are sick of, and he's clearly rather intelligent and it comes across when he speaks. His patreon was raking in beaucoup bucks when he had it up, he published a best-selling book, and I think he was tenured at his university so they couldn't fire him even if they wanted to.

Fucking Sargon got worse treatment by the left when he ran for MEP. And all Sargon is addicted to is cocaine and tranny cock - Peterson could learn a thing or two from Smuckles. Peterson's addiction may be fed somewhat by focusing on the negative presences in his life, with his wife having cancer likely being the domino that set the whole thing off, but it's always a sober person who takes that first pill of the bender, or chugs down that first beer in the binge. Maybe his pre-existing mental issues were enough, but I think an unhealthy dose of hubris gave him the rationalisation he needed to play it fast and loose with the benzos.

My bad. I didn't really pay attention to the whole "checkmate, atheists!" stuff back in the day.

I think he actually drank his own Flavor Aid, and being in the spotlight got into him.

Sarg'n is more like an intellectual on steroids (hot takes, no brains), and had his gaffes on record. Those made a fine distraction from the whole Brexit shitshow and a weapon to bludgeon the already weakened UKIP to death.
