For what it's worth, I think this app was inherently flawed to begin with cause in the actual FAQ they admitted they'd just let these males in anyway even if they failed the face scan as long as they identify as female. Also I imagine the face scan software is flawed even when used on actual women and you never know what they could secretly be doing with the face data you're giving them.

AI itself isn't really a thing. However neural networks can easily be trained to recognize sex pretty accurately. They're pretty easy enough for amateur programmers to experiment with. Hell, there's a very interesting article about a comp sci experiment, the state of the art in 1995, where their algorithm outperformed humans.

They're not really AI, just elaborate pattern matchers. But it's interesting because they can hone in on little tells that humans either only notice subconsciously or maybe not at all.

We don't have a thread on them. At this point I don't think they warrant one, garish outfits aside. They're an unusual sort, because they are actually very intelligent, Daniel in the "never quite sure of himself, chronic imposter syndrome" way that autistic women can be, Grace in the overclocked overconfident Cluster B MtF troon way.

They're fools but they're not idiots, if that makes sense. Still, I have a feeling that they're going to be worth following, even if things won't really heat up for another six or twelve months, after the honeymoon period is over.

Grace's take is that she's transforming Daniel's work away from what his original fanbase liked, and bringing it in line with something that can serve her own ego. Grace is being "ironic" here but it's clear that she likes the idea of her partner's evolution as a writer being her achievement. Standard male artist ego thing.
