Theoretically a tetra-gametic chimera (an in utero fusion of a pair of fraternal twins) could under some very special, artificially induced circumstances have functional meiosis that might result in both ova and sperm cells, but most likely not, since the endocrine climate required to produce gametes would destroy "the other" cell type.

It's not that there aren't too few beds, it's that they demand to sleep next to other crazy cis women in the women's section. I found this case of a transperson who went on a hungerstrike because a psychiatric hospital refused to put him in a double room with a woman. The psychiatric hospital insisted that they were put in a single room because they were suicidal:

A clinician allegedly said Perry couldn’t be in a room with two beds in the Proctor House ward, which treats patients for dissociative disorders and trauma, and that there were no single-bed rooms available. Perry, who had asked to be placed in a women’s shared room, was instead placed in a single-bed room at a different McLean unit — North Belknap, which treats patients with OCD and psychotic disorders.

It sounded like gender discrimination, Perry said at the time. According to nursing notes obtained by ThinkProgress, hospital staff placed Perry in the psych unit due to clinical acuity — pulling out hair and head-banging.

This reminds me of a Zombie novel I read, I forget the name bit it was like book 5 or something in a series that was already really shit and was only reading because I enjoy shitty zombie novels.
Anyway the main character makes friends with some troon living in a settlement and they go out scavenging, they eventually go to a pharmacy and there is this whole big thing about How they keep looking for HRT pills every time they go out and how hard it is to keep up the appearance of being female and trans in a post apocalyptic world especially with so much bigotry.

The comic itself is not awful, it is about living day-to-day with very little money for food, but these parts stood out to me:

Aging is a natural process that all humans go through, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, etc and happens regardless if want to or not. Trooning out is an unnatural process that only a small group of mentally ill people go through when they really want to. Additionally, you cannot completely change your gender, you will always have XX or XY chromosomes and will never have organs and features exclusive to the opposite gender (i.e. a man cannot have a womb and a woman cannot have sperm ducts).

Does anyone else know any troons who intentionally don't want to pass? I was on the bus today and saw a guy and girl holding hands, whatever, then I happened to look up and saw the guy was wearing a Smith College (it is all women) shirt. Then I saw he had the trans symbol tattooed on his hand. I don't get this behavior.
