I've got to start following Daniel Mallory Ortberg and Grace Lavery in more detail, because this is some pretty good content. Grace (the MtF) is prolific on twitter and posts a ton of selfies.
Just as a refresher, this is what these two people look like.
For those not familiar, Daniel Ortberg (formerly Mallory Ortberg, on the right) met Grace Lavery (formerly Joseph Lavery) trooned out, had a mastectomy, cut contact with her family, and married Grace, all in the span of about two years. More details in this post.
As usual, the MtF is the more lurid of the two. Can anyone else work out what exactly is going on with this garment? Is it made of vinyl?
The caption is a double entendre, judging by this:
You do BDSM. Got it.
Actually, can we talk about Grace's outfits?
All of her lewks are like this: loud, totally incoherent and A Mess. It's like she sees a piece individually, thinks it looks cool and exciting, and then wears it with no consideration for how the whole thing looks together (bad). Her outfits are made entirely of mismatched statement pieces. This isn't even one of the usual tranny fashion pitfalls, so don't blame it on that. The green textured jacket with the purple sunglasses? It's all her.
A closet shot so you can play along.
Daniel dresses like a fashion oblivious butch lesbian, as seen above. I don't buy that he's being manipulated into transition. It's still a weirdass situation, though. He's a capable writer, and some of you may have read his stuff on the online magazine The Toast back when that was a thing. I wouldn't be surprised if he has autism, judging both by his writing style and the fact that he's FtM. His writing is very affected and ornate in the way that you see a lot with autistic people, but because he's actually a good writer it comes across as stylish or at least charming.
You remember that short piece he wrote for The Toast way back in 2013, called "Male Novelist Jokes"? (link) (archive) "Q: How many male novelists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: His alcoholism was different, because someday he was going to die." It was about a certain type of existentially self-involved intellectual male, and folks,

Grace "disowns" this completely, of course, but nevertheless it's nice when people tell on themselves.
Q: How many male novelists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: The time had come for him to go to war, and also find himself, and also reject the rules of your society.

More from Grace:
Reader, I married him (the male novelist.)
