Today Trump ordered the Pentagon to establish the 6th U.S. military branch, the U.S. Space Force.

Speaking at a meeting of the National Space Council, Trump ordered the Pentagon to immediately establish a national “space force” that would become the sixth branch of the armed forces.

“We are going to have a space force,” Trump said in Washington D.C. “An Air Force and a Space Force. Separate, but equal.”

This is not the first time that Trump has floated the idea of establishing a “space force.” The president mentioned the idea in May during a ceremony at the White House honoring the Army Black Knights college football team.

Trump did not go into details about what military role the so-called “space force” would carry out or who would command it, but he framed space as a national security issue, saying he does not want "China and Russia and other countries leading us."

The president said the United States will "be the leader by far" in space and is looking to revive the nation's flagging space program by returning the United States to the moon and soon reaching Mars.

So what is the countdown to some sperg trying to sue the Space Force for their logo looking like the Starfleet logo?
George Takei might do it...

He's already mentioned it.

It doesn't look THAT MUCH like the Star Fleet logo, and considering they're both about space fleets they'd probably have some resemblance. Star Trek wanted to predict what a government space force emblem would look like. These nerds should be happy that they're getting a space force.

They won't be happy unless we suspend all human progress and achievement for 8 years so bad orange man can't be credited with any of it. It chaps their asses massively that Trump's name will forever be the one associated with the creation of what will become our most important military branch.

The logo is apparently a modified version of the old Space Command logo

People are such spergs about the symbol. Gene roddenberry ripped the deltoid symbol off the US Air Force and NASA. It's basically a universal map symbol on military charts and radar resolution pictures for an aircraft. Orienting it pointed straight up is symbolic for traveling to space. Roddenberry liked the aesthetic of a cold war military symbol being the symbol for his utopian space navy.

'Star Trek' fans accuse President Trump of copying logo for new Space Forcehttps://sneed.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/KJ7Yq4Idk_PmF1ckbIZ2Xg--~A/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjtzbT0xO2ZpPWZpbGw7dz04NDtoPTg0/https://sneed.yimg.com/os/creatr-images/GLB/2017-10-30/9bcfd2d0-bdb8-11e7-b172-5b7bbf723b60_B1B864AA-14B3-4AA5-8224-86F4461D5001-2-.jpegRaechal ShewfeltEditor, Yahoo EntertainmentYahoo TVJanuary 24, 2020Actor George Takei is no fan of President Donald Trump, even less so after Trump on Friday unveiled a new logo for the newly created United States Space Force. After Trump shared the design on Twitter, Takei, who played Sulu on the original Star Trek TV series in the ‘60s, pointed out its similarities to the one used by the sci-fi franchise’s Starfleet Command. “Ahem. We are expecting some royalties from this...,” Takei wrote.

In one of several tweets on the subject, Takei declared,“There is nothing sacred anymore.” The actor, who’s spoken out before about his political disagreements with Trump when Takei was a contestant on Celebrity Apprenticein 2012, was far from the only one who noticed similarities. The topic was one of the most talked about subjects on Twitter late in the day.CNN reporter Jim Acosta provided a side-by-side comparison.

However, a few pointed out that the new logo has commonalities with an other earlier logo, one that was used by the Air Force.

Star Trek was already fresh on the minds of audiences, as the new show Star Trek: Picard, the eighth series in the franchise, debuted Jan. 23 on CBS All Access. The spinoff, which follows retired officer Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart, was renewed for a second season before the first episode had even aired.

"Trump accused by clearly blind people of doing something he didn't do; we report because we have no standards."

Yeah, I'm sure it was Trump himself that designed the logo while also giving a shit about a franchise that didn't have a decent installment in at least a decade.

Also choke on a dick George Takei for romanticizng gay pedophilic relations.

I really think the logo should incorporate the sun as a key element but that's just me. I mean I guess its there but more emphasized.

I am pretty sure that arrow is representing the arrow from the Wind Rose, not the Federation logo's arrow

My theory is an A1C was tasked to make the thing, and he pulled that out of his ass to try trolling his boss.... never expecting that it'd go all the way to the top, and finally be signed off by the Sec. of Defense (and Trump).

I mean, someone had to have pointed out the at least passing similarity, right?

Or maybe there's a lot of subversive trekkies in the AF. Either way, I'm down.
