I see he went to the John Money school of medicine.

Harper doesn't get enough credit, primarily because our media thinks anybody right of Stalin is literally Hitler. He wasn't perfect but his finance minister kept us from getting absolutely devestated by the 2008 market crash; no CDOs for Canada. Contrast that with the rest of the developed world taking various depths of dicking.

Flaherty was just that good.

Also as much as I might dislike Harper's globalism I'd still take him any day over Trudeau.

As a Canadian, I am extremely annoyed by how my country likes to pander to these extremely liberal ideologies, and pass these stupid human right bullshit laws. You can literally get out of jail for pretty much about anything here, it's insane. The criminal justice system is a complete joke to begin with. I remember when Rob Ford got out of having to do charges for his crack smoking incident when he was excused because he was under the influence of alcohol. The way the let people off here that are no doubt super guilty blows my mind. Having Mr. Dressup be the prime minister yet again makes me want to fire myself over into the drug infested cesspit known as Mexico at this point.

Just found this story about two Canadian parents, one of them is a nurse. Apparently, they bound the arms of their 16 year old son and let him play in a freezing pool where he was later found dead. They referred to him as "freak" and played it off as a term of endearment. They also stole his prescription medication and used it for themselves. The Inside edition video is a doosie, they talk about him like he's the family dog.

Sad part is, the father is merely being charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Ottawa County is in Michigan, not Canada.

Three pages and no mention of Luka Magnotta?
I had no idea who this person was but then Netflix kindly provided me with a documentary that made me aware of his existence. This was not a good thing and I had no need of that knowledge but I watched it all the same.
All the real edgdlords saw the ED page ten years ago so we didn't bother. Catch up n008.

I've only been to Canada twice, once to Toronto and once to Vancouver and here are a few of my thoughts/observations off the top of my head:
  • There's such a more concerted effort to shove the LGBTWTF agenda down your throat than in the United States it's not even funny. Big office towers having the rainbow flag emblazoned on the top, bank ATM's reminding you that this bank supports gay pride, when you withdraw cash (Maybe my Pentecostal Minister of a Grandmother wasn't bullshitting me about the mark of the beast back when I was a kid!) , rainbow crosswalks - the amount of poz shoved in your face is just unreal. Even my Canadian friends have admitted to me that they think it's a bit much.
  • In addition out in the suburbs of Toronto it was completely browned out with Islamic immigration. When I was waiting for my friend to pick me up at his TTC station by the airport I felt so out of place.
  • Also as others have pointed out that niceness crap for the most part is just a facade. I had some very cunty and passive aggressive encounters with people. But on the other hand, I've met some genuinely awesome people from there and my best online friend is Canadian, so they're not all bad. I really do feel awful for the normal Canadians who have to put up with cultural enrichment and globohomo being shoved in their face.
  • Even with the exchange rate being very much in my favor at the time, a lot of things were way more expensive for no good reason, such as books. Also they have to pay a cucked out carbon tax on each liter (lol) of gas sold at gas stations.
  • Canada seems to love crafting an identity that's "not America" to the point that retailers and fast food chains were laying on the Canadian pride schtick pretty damn thick in their stores. Even American chains such as Mcdonalds and Home Depot Canadianize their operations and play up the Canadian identity of their employees and operations.
  • Vancouver definitely felt more like the United States than Toronto, which is probably why I liked it more (Also the cheap ass pot was awesome and probably skewed my opinion a lot)
  • CBC Radio was actually interesting to listen to and nobody had that low energy and soft NPR voice.
  • I had to control myself from snickering and laughing hearing that aboot sound whenever people were talking.

I apologize in advance for how mad you're going to be this week.

...I watched it.

It was very interesting to see the documentary shift goals as Kuenne proceeded through the timeline of this entire affair. His archival of the events ended up expressing a disparity of emotions that was very human, further highlighted by its homemade feel as opposed to a typical piece with slick production values. I also realized that, until I saw this, I've never seen just how closely-knit communities in small-town America can be. Not just in the US either; Newfoundland was full of people who accepted the Bagby's with open arms.

But when the child died... I've never seen true, raw fury until that very moment. Not just from the family and others interviewed, but from the documentary maker himself. The fact that many of the people involved got away almost completely scot-free just rubbed salt in the wounds.

Ugh that fucking narcissist. And that poor Chinese student. I cannot imagine going to another country to further you education only to be viciously murdered and disposes of. And he fucking filmed it. I can't imagine being a jury member.

Tho it makes me laugh that the shithead was caught abroad in an internet cafe.......reading stories about himself.....dumbass

Here is another Islamic Content Banger.

This is the story of Canada's Liberal government essentially federally funding middle eastern terrorism. The origin of the story goes Omar Khadr a highschool student in Scarborogh (major district in Toronto Ontario) travels to the middle east around the time the Iraq war is going on. His family has ties to terrorist organization known as Al-Qaeda Khadr was severely wounded during fighting between U.S. soldiers and Taliban fighters and lobbed a grenade that killed a US soldier. He was detained and sent to Guantanamo Bay where he served 8 years then was transfered back to Canada. For some fucked up reason Canada decided to pay him out for "miss handling of the case". In 2017, the Canadian government announced a $10.5 million settlement with Khadr to compensate for damages arising from its previous handling of the case.

I remember watching a show about a child who murdered and partially ate another kid in Canada (La Ronge). I thought he was released not too long ago but apparently he's still in the looney bin.

This was a big issue that a lot of people were pissed off about. Of course saying anything other than what a brave individual khadr was is considered racist and xenophonbic.

@Homegrown Homophobia's description of Toronto is pretty spot on

Oh this dumb bullshit about Khadr again. It's never been irrefutably proven that he threw the grenade that killed the medic. It's difficult to do that when you're trapped under a fallen wall.

Also, the settlement was done because he would've gotten a lot more money had the case gone to court

And here's 3 more dudes that got big pay-outs, by claiming that Canadian counter-terrorism misidentified them. To be fair, CSIS is run by the RCMP, and consider the track record with JY, and the other crimes discussed in this thread, and you can see the problem.

And this is MeToo, Eh - dude has a consensual affair, it end amicably, later, she's convinced it was actually sexual misconduct, and he's removed from his chair at UBC, despite no actual proof of any wrongdoing.

Hey, it worked for Cliff Olson.

Backstory: Clifford Olson “The Beast of British Columbia” was a child rapist and serial killer (equal opportunity— he killed boys and girls). While the police had enough to convict him of at least one of his murders in addition to other crimes, there were still a number of victims whose bodies had yet to be found.

Olson proposed a deal: $10,000 for each child whose location he disclosed. He gave them 11 victims to the tune of $100k. He said victim 11 was a freebie. Olson called his wife after securing the deal to exclaim, “Honey, you’re gonna be rich.” The money went to his wife and son.

It doesn’t end there. In spite of being one of the most notorious serial killers in Canada and having been incarcerated for life in 1981, Olson was still collecting $1,200 a month in old age and low income pension from the government. He began receiving the payments when he turned 65 in 2005 and the payments went on for five years, over $70k total, when PM Harper finally changed the law.

TORONTO -- Two Mississauga, Ont., men have been indicted in U.S. federal court for allegedly helping to run an international smuggling procurement scheme over a five-year period to support Pakistan’s nuclear program.

Muhammad Ahsan Wali, 48, and Haji Wali Muhammad Sheikh, 82, were two of five men accused of running the procurement scheme for things such as aircraft parts, sensors and satellite communications devices using an alleged front company called “Business World” based out of Rawalpindi, a city in northern Pakistan, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
