I reckon they would have lived out their fetishes in some other way, and had the standard mid-life crisis and dumped their wives for a younger model, only to find out that none of the younger women/men are interested in them for more than their money.

I don't think it's that they assume Kyle likes anal. I think they assume that because he's a dude, he doesn't have a vagina so they have to use the back door.
