Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

@MrTickles is a clown but I don't really mind that he shits up the board. There's always somebody like that on every board that doesn't ban people on site for the dumbest shit. And on some that do. In the latter case, they're called moderators.

It's best not to get angry or upset at people like that, just negrate and move on. My biggest gripe with the rating system though is that it encourages tribalism and there's always that one poster who will negrate you just for existing, no matter what you said.

I had someone like that follow me around the website for awhile. I forget who the Hell it was but I disagreed with him in some sort of thread at some point and he dumb-rated literally every single post that I made for a solid month or two. The thought of someone following me around specifically to leave trash can stickers in my wake was too funny to bother caring about it, though.

Now that you mention it, it's probably a good thing that the rating system in itself is not brought into consideration if a ban is being considered on a user. If that was the case we'd probably both have almost as many Dumb ratings as @Holden, and most likely all from the same couple of people! I'm pretty sure you can't even exist without pissing somebody off but wow do some people really go the extra mile.

I remember interacting with Comrade Tickles in the Hong Kong thread, realized he was a lolcow and decide to leave him be, thinking that, like all lolcows, within time he will fuck himself over, one way or another. I guess I was right. I doubt, at least Chinese and geopolitical matters, you can have a serious conversation with him, as you are 110% with him or against. No give or take, just taking the Party line like a Nomenklatura functionary, just without any elevated privileges.

Why is an entire subforum being called out when it's individuals that sperg up threads about teh jooz that are to blame? They'll still exist.

It's not like a random non-teh jooz poster can do anything about it other than negrate and report.
