So a bunch of boomer furries decided to create an old timey boys club? Okay but I don't think there's any boomer furries that weren't convicted for sex crimes or just straight up retarded. They could probably invite the Furaffinity lawsuit unicorn guy, but he's retarded for sure. They could invite the boomer-looking dragon furry who got fucked over by 2gryphon, or 2gryphon himself, but they're losers and probably don't have the budget for 5 dollar membership fee. There's some truth to this statement, with the keyword being some. On one hand I've seen non-furry artists (especially porn artists) sell themselves to furries as furries are loyal consumers. Despite the high amount of far-left furries whining about capitalism, the furry fandom revolves around capitalism. YCH auctions can bring in high prices for commissions as well.

On the other hand drawing rule 34 comics is going to net you even more money a month than commissions. Is it any wonder some of the most popular furry porn is rule 34? You can go on e621 right now and look at the top rated posts and multiple ones (including the #1 highest rated post on the site) are rule 34. This isn't solely a furry thing either, because numerous artists built their careers on fanart and rule 34. Drawing furry porn commissions isn't the cheat code to making money as an artist, rule 34 is. I've seen so many furry porn artists move from solely commissions to Patreon for this reason.

Then there's other issues that arise with commission work. There's chargebacks from both mad furries and underage kids using their mom's credit card...and their mom just so happens to be a Karen who'd rather issue a chargeback than make their kid pay. Why make your out of control teen pay for their $80 furry art (to teach them a lesson) when a chargeback makes the money vanish from the credit card bill. Then there's having to deal with the autism of each furry wanting specific markings on their penis and whatnot.

Of course the most obvious no shit Sherlock response is to just not quit your 9-5 day job, or diversify your online hobbies to include more than just art.

Furry shit is the easy way if you're into that niche, but niche restricts your actual opportunities.
One of the things they drill into people in art school is that it's better to be a dabbler in many trades than a master of one.
Right now for instance, typography is stupid trendy and a lot of beer companies are going insane for commissioning custom labels from artists who do it. It's just simply not one of those art types that gets a lot of attention online for some reason, guessing since it just can't often fit into fan art and character circles and all that so lacks the younger audience who like to share such things. But it's definitely alive and thriving - Just in more professional circles.
Drawing furry porn for a living is not a professional environment. People outside of furry know nothing about it and won't ask for it.
Yeah, you get money, but you aren't working with a company or anything like that. The process is completely different, and barely anything similar to how proper 'illustration' works, ie. when People commission you for a book cover and such.

Yeah, a friendo says the same thing even if his main portfolio involves anthropomorphic characters & creature design. That being said though, he's got a wide breadth of understanding regarding various subject matters & mediums, both traditional, digital, and their respective 2D and 3D counterparts.

Don't really want to namedrop him here though since he can be a bit special on the internet at times, but he's got enough self-awareness to regret any mistakes after the fact & subsequently tries to resolve them.

And yes he's dabbled in the more degenerate digital arts of furries, and found to not like it despite the extra traffic from furfags. Guess he's got morals of some kind at least.
