A podcast of his size is easily raking in a couple thousand per ad read at the minimum and that's not counting the extra income from dullards that use his promo codes for whatever shit he's shilling. Multiply that by how many reads he does per podcast plus youtube ad revenue per channel when he puts an ass load of breaks per video. Chubs is raking in the shekels.

The one thing that keeps me smiling is he's totally going to die young and all the brown nosing in the world can't fix that.

Prob around 3 Million a year from YT ads if all monetized.

At the lowest possible estimate they are making 20k per ad read on the podcast and they read multiple ads from what I remember. Wouldn't be surprised if it were double that. Easily could make 100k per podcast.

I don't know why people haven't realized large youtubers make a shit ton of money yet. Marketing is one of the things companies spend the most on. You can't make a sale if no one knows you exist. Can't sell a company if it has no subscribers or customers. Look at jet.com...the whole goal was to get a huge customer base while operating at a loss in order to sell it. Walmart bought it for 3 billion.

I dunno how much their clothes would make but I'm sure it is profitable. I'm seriously surprised that people were shocked that they could afford a 9 million dollar mortgage.
 
The podcast feels so fucking lazy now, I cannot believe people still listen to this. It's always just milking the same jokes dry, covering topics way too late, harassing the one sound guy and talking about Ethan constantly. It's as if they don't try anymore.

One thing that annoys the fuck out of me is how these "interns" immediately change whatever opinion they had on a subject the moment Ethan or Hila say they disagree. The recent podcast about that Faze kid, Dan said Bill Gates is a piece of shit while Ethan and Hila would not stop saying he's a good guy until Dan caved and said "maybe he is". With the Faze ban, Dan said the kid deserved a lifetime ban while Ethan and Hila suggested a 3 month ban. They argued for 20 fucking minutes and would not drop the topic until Dan said "Okay 3 months". I don't know if it's Ethan and Hila hating it when people have different opinions or those interns are scared to oppose them or are submissive as fuck to their bosses. Either way, it's pathetic to listen to.

I would kinda understand the interns being yes men, I never understood and honestly I can't excuse the same behaviour from JacksFilms and InternetEtiquette especially when Ethan was drunk rambling.

They're paid staffers. They made a big to-do on one of the past six or so episodes about bringing on the last intern(Ian I think) on as a fully-paid-with-benefits employee. But previously one or two of them were not.
 
The popularity of the H3 Podcast always surprised me, even knowing their fans are probably on the younger side. It's exhaustingly mediocre and neither Ethan nor Hila have the skills and personality to carry a conversation or manage a live broadcast. The gap between them and other podcasts - and even Twitch streamers - is just astounding.

I stopped listening as soon as it became Ethan's unresearched hot takes. Which was quick.

I watched a few videos from the clips channel and I for the longest time I assumed Hila was some producer who occasionally chimed in. She just doesn't seem to know how to project her voice, she just mumbles so softly that sometimes I had to go back and relisten just to catch what she said. It really seems to just be Ethan's streaming show.

The best interpretation I can think of is that its low-effort, inoffensive and generalistic nature and hosting on Youtube just makes it extremely accessible.

I don't see the longevity in it. They're making money hand over fist but they're clearly not interested in improving and you only need to look at Channel Awesome to see where that leads in the long-term.
 
Going for the mediocre-middle is dangerous, but if you're big enough at the time that you make the transition, it can be resilient. While it means your audience doesn't give a shit and will come and go, you have a lot of new people attracted by the high watch numbers who will replace anybody who gets tired of them. It's what Google fantasises about YT becoming - the new daytime TV, where dangerous content (such as any strong opinions or deep interests) are replaced by broad-brushstroke advertiser-friendly waffle. While h3 isn't particularly good at this, they got there first on YT and there's a disturbingly large audience for this type of content waiting to be tapped into.
 

Ethan discusses his awful Bill Burr interview with accent-deficient, mullet-having Crocodile Dundee, who apparently also had a shitty interview with Bill Burr. Here's a summary.
  • He claims he went into therapy and started taking anti-depressants after the interview, taking a page out of Mumkey's Declassified Damage Control Survival Guide.
  • While trying to describe the "harsh" reaction the podcast got, he corrects himself from saying "my fans" to "my audience".
  • He states he felt like a "failure as an interviewer" not from the quality of the interview, but from how people reacted to it.
  • He points out people were "making video essays about how bad an interview it was", probably a reference to Gokanaru. He calls it "YouTube style stuff".
  • He calls the Bill Burr episode his "rock bottom" and "the culmination of a lot of stress", saying that he was having prior problems with the podcast.
  • This quote about the second interview: "He reached out, he said he wanted to do it, I was like 'God bless, dude! This is like Fear Factor for me, round two! Ruined my life the first time, let's go!'"
  • He questions if Bill Burr "listens to these", and Crocodile Dundee answers by saying that he probably doesn't. Ethan responds by saying that Bill "doesn't care about what we think about him".
  • Crocodile Dundee tries to change the topic, bringing up that he listens to a horror podcast about a guy wandering into the woods and never coming back. Ethan responds by asking Dundee if he "feels like a missing person talking to Bill Burr".
  • This quote from Ethan: "I feel like 99% of guests, they're more gracious, they won't take the opportunity if they see you're like uncomfortable or you goofed up. When he (Bill) sees an opening, he will attack."
  • He states that during the second interview, he "talked as little as he could".
    • Fun Fact: 'Bill Burr' is an anagram for 'bull'.
  • He claims Bill Burr is "not willing to give you the benefit of the doubt" and will "expose any chinks in your armor" because "for him, that's comedy". If you listen closely, Dundee calls the practice of busting another comedian's balls "not funny".
  • He says that after the Bill Burr episode, he "started cancelling episodes". Dundee mentions that he had the same reaction after his own interview with him.
The comments under this clip are ripping into Ethan and Dundee, it's pretty hilarious.

Patrice, an honorable man, who made himself a popular comedian only on the basis of standing out as mean machine of comebacks. I would've thoroughly enjoyed this guy in current year had he not died. He probably would've prevented Bill Burr from getting done in by his wife as well.

Oh fuck you, Ethan. The impression I got from the first podcast was that Ethan and Bill really don't have anything in common, and Bill did everything he could to try and support Ethan during the show. Yeah, it got awkward, but everyone has rough times, and every podcaster has some rough episodes. It's fuckin' fine. I made it through the whole episode, and Ethan just sounded down and not into it. You can tell that Bill starts having to prop Ethan up and keep the show going, and Bill did a pretty good job of it because he's a talented entertainer.

And then Bill's second appearance went smoothly, and they seemed to really enjoy their dad chat. It was fine.

Christ, Ethan, it's okay to feel like shit every once in a while. The Bill Burr episode was already a tough one, considering you're way more in your element when talking to YouTubers. If I had to interview someone outside of the YouTube, internet forum, or video game circles, I'd probably fuck up too, and much more dramatically because I've never been a public figure. But throwing him under the bus loooooong after the fact? Bruh.
